Now, I have some to get some opinions about the "new", older 213.

For now, it will run with the standard EV2 engine.

But the ideia is to make it a little bit spicier in the future. Not as little as I did with mine (well, the difference is easily felt when driving, the D14A1 makes it move quite quickly B) but keeping it smooth and low on gas, as it is really, really expensive in here <_< ).

What do you say about that? A D16A8/9? I heard that the block may brake on these units, so, even knowing that this was the "easiest" swap for what I want, I am not looking forward to it. Still, what would I need? ECU, an electric fuel pump, the same "new mounts" I had on the D14A1, and what else? Is the cooling system enough to handle it?

What other options would I have?

I am in love with my Rover K series engines, and, knowing that they were mounted on some Lotus Elise, the first Exiges, Catherhams, and some other sports cars, I would really, really like to give them a try on a 213. But the swap would be hard, once even the gearbox is mounted on the opposite side.

I also thought on the 2 litre turbocharged engine from a Rover 220 Coupé Turbo, with ~200hp, but it would be too much, I think.

We made the long promised suspension maintenance.

The front right shock was tottaly wasted.

The new material:

The front shock mounts:

DSC02457_zps42eb0d1b.jpg

The new ones, which came from the USA, for the Civic mk3.

The difference is that they hadn't the 2 holes that mine had, and they
had a washer on top of them, instead of a rubber piece as mine had. The
213 mk1 is exactly the same as the Civics, not as the mk2.

DSC02458_zps697a1969.jpg

So, I decided to leave those rubber pieces on my car.

The rear lower shock mounts...

The spring difference (old vs new):

Both old ones. Now I know why my car was leaning on the right side!

It was a bit too much, wasn't it? I still have to lower the front a little bit, as it is higher than the back, right now.

Well, still, it is far more confortable (mainly because before I barely
had front shock absobers, and now it doesn't leans at every little
provocation on the steering wheel).

It is quieter, the engine vibration on idle is almost none (I still have
to get new engine mounts), and it is quite a pleasant car to go around
corners, now. And it isn't too much "dry", you only feel it harder on
those big city speed bumps, and on those holes with a metal "cap" on it
(forgot the name, sorry banghead.gif), as well as on those worse pavements, with considerable damage.

Even on those old pavements, which aren't entirely concerete, he still goes quite smoothly.

Now, I really need your help. I already saw some Civics with barely any space between the tyre and the fender, at the front.

My height ajustment nut is at the maximum (maybe I can give it one 360º turn, but not more than that). And it still is far too high.

My idea is to add an extra 1cm (I actually would like it to be as low as it is, but it gets far to low when I have 3 persons in the back seat, so it has to go up) at the back, an to take off 1cm at the front, so it would be in the same level, ou lower, than the back.

So, how do you shave some extra height off at the front? I really really need some advice, I am getting nowhere with this... :(

Ok, so... After a few months, another update!

My car vs stock

DSC02496_zps146eaa04.jpg

And some more feltcoat! :P

DSC02610_zps1c0ee4ac.jpg

DSC02611_zps8972c871.jpg

And that was it.

Then, I took the golden one for a spin.

DSC00080sm2_zpsa7f6b69e.jpg

DSC00091_zps48dc2d8a.jpg

And on a MG-Rover Clube de Portugal Meeting, I was able to take them both, plus my other Rover (416 Tourer), and my brother's Diesel.

And something which may be strange for you... A "civic" with a Rover engine. :P

This one is a 216 Vitesse, the sportier version of this generation's Rover 200.

It has a 103hp, EFi, 8v engine. Not very revvy, but with a good amount of torque during all the rev range. And very quick, too!

Then, on my first day of easter holidays... Changing the radiator to the gold one.

DSC00134_zpsf2e9e109.jpg

DSC00135_zps19490dc9.jpg

Then, I took it to the annual inspections, in which he passed, but just when I got home...

DSC02664_zpsbfae8731.jpg

DSC02665_zps13052ee6.jpg

It has been repaired, but, this was not only a radiator problem. There is some pressure on the coolant system, so... Probably, head gasket failure.

On my car...

Other kind of intervention had to be made before the inspection.

So let the work begin.

DSC02653_zps1ab7fd61.jpg

DSC02658_zps5d5b3d7a.jpg

I also had a damaged steering rack boot, and I had (and still have, I though it was from the inner rack, but everything is quite solid... Help, please!) a play on my steering.

Armrest:

And some more photos (He was quite dirty)

I know, I really have to lower the front. But I just discovered how to do it (thank you, guys! :D)

Then, I had the headlamps opened, and cleaned. I did it because the driver side headlamp had a broken mount, so, since I had another driver's headlamp at home, but with bad inner chrome, I joined them and made a "new" headlamp :D

Great to see the dedication, nice to see Rovers little upmarket detailing like wood door trims & roof console, the new armrest matching that style well.
