Cool, it looks like the mounting bracket was made especially for the ZC as it has HKS written on it. I would like to know where one would source this unit for future reference. It looks like a big honky unit. How does the rest of it mount up? Just to the standard plenum IM bolts or a special adapter plate?
I have a turbo going in my D16A1 this year sometime but was always interested in a SC. The only ones I had ever seen even close for our application was the Jackson Racing unit.
Any other sort of bonus information on the install would be worthy to have on site if you are able to accommodate us with that. I think I can just see the alternator tucked in underneath. Any problems with belt alignment, etc? JS
I've been helping Mike with this, so I have some knowledge about installing the unit. Mike can add/correct me.
It is a direct bolt on to the D16A1/3 block; HKS supercharger and HKS plenum into the standard IM bolts. The lengths had to be changed on a few studs, and similar fairly small adjustments. The sc supports made getting the intermediate shaft and the alternator attachment attached an interesting exercise, but again it was basically bolt on. Just get the order right.
The sc uses the standard crankshaft pulley drive - the power steering if I remember right - its a 4 rib pulley and not a v belt. The alternator didn't need any changes as I remember. The tricky part was working out the correct belt alignment - there is an idler pulley in there to make the belt clear the body rail. Once we figured that out, the belt was an off the shelf item re ribs and length.
The fuel lines need to be worked out, as the sc belt drive is very close to the strut tower, and thats where the fuel filter etc was positioned (rhd). An adjustable fuel pressure regulator is part of the set-up.
Sourcing it - no idea. Its the only one I've ever heard of.
