The Story: My first ride was a '95 Dodge Dakota Sport. Nice truck, clean, heavy, slow. I rarely if ever hauled a damn thing in the bed and instead put two 15" Bostwick HD Pro Subs tunnel-rammed into the cab w/ an amp that may have killed off the dinosaurs (still have it, btw) Fast-forward 4-5 years and you have me and my '85 Si, hauling crap ALL the time. I buy parts, go to U-pull-its, strip donors, move 8 times in 5 years, transport an engine, etc. So here are just a sample of the haulin' the little Rex has accomplished over the years. Anyone else completely disregard the GWR rating on their Hondas? Seen squat lately? My only rule was to always have the hatch close while rolling: Here are a few:

She had exactly 1" clearance from the head to the glass on this D15Z1 VTEC-E that's going in my project '89 HF

The magic was getting the downpipe to clear AND not ramming the glass w/ the head while loading w/ a frontloader

No front end collisions please, I like the back of my head intact just fine, thanks

A second gen driver's door WILL fit it you don't have any interior and you wedge it sideways-like w/ the pass. seat down

It was harder/heavier than it looks

The latest stuffing...3 years worth of accumilated parts in one load...had to take the passenger seat out to make room, the beast was packed

claustrophobia anyone?

Not pictured: The load before this consisted of 2 first gen doors stacked on their side, two door glasses w/ foam in between, misc. interior pieces, two full rads, and a tranny w/ the linkage still attached (bitch pin...grrr) that I took to Therealtime's shop for safe keeping til I sell it off. Thanks Tony and Mike!

Show us your overhaulin' adventures...Mak

Hell yeah!! the other day I bought 5 5'x8' area rugs from the carpet store (rolled up of course) and the guy that was gonna load them asked where I parked my truck and I said I brang my CRX, he laughed and said they would not fit, I pulled my crx up and threw all 5 carpets in there and he was surprised as hell...

I bought a set of scion XB stock 15" wheels with 195/60/15 tires (brand new takeoff set) and drove my crx, the guy asked why i brang a small car, I told him that thing will swallow them no problem, I put all 4 wheels/tires in the back with no problems lol and there was room to spare l...

Btw i HAD THE SAME DODGE DAKOTA 4X4 WITH THE 3.9 V-6 AND I'VE HAULED MORE IN MY REX THAN IN THAT THING LOL..

I want to see someone mod a 1st gen CRX into a small pickup..that would be sweet... someone photoshop one...

It is amazing how much stuff...or people...will fit in a 1G. Six folks in mine, once. In the snow at a WV ski resort - I was the most "sober" and we didn't feel like walking to our condo.

I also have a '95 Dakota Sport. I have to say it does a better job at hauling mulch & rocks for yard projects. It's got the 318, a five-speed, and a bunch of mods so it's reasonably quick. However, I'm lucky if it gets 16mpg, and it's not nearly as fun on a cloverleaf as the CRX!

i can fit an entire metal framed futon, futon matress, 24" tv, 1.2 cu ft microwave, a toaster, my dinky tool box, a cylinderhead with intake mani, plus 2 17" rims and a few pillos...in my 93 civic sedan.

Its amazing what you can fit in a civic or crx, screw del sols. Only thing I haven't hauled is a mattress or box spring...or a hood, those are a toughie.

Last Wednsday, I had to pick up a windsheild for a '98 Plymouth breeze. Suprisingly, it just bairly fit w/ my seats as far up as they would go (and my knees i the dash...) and the hatch resting on a box that was placed on the windsheild...
Its amazing how much you can fit in these cars... Christmas trees, bailed hay, corn stalks, eight people...
Im also impressed on the fact that they can pull things also ('85 F150 out of a mud pit, and also out of the front yard after the engine seized... biggrin.gif )

When I was building sets for my college drama class, I fit 12 2x4s in the rear poking through the passenger window, Misc tools and 4x4 panels. Man I could hear the spring screaming. wink.gif Plus I had a maniquin sticking through the sunroof.

The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

I dont have a truck anymore either. I sold my 94 Dodge Ram and ended up buying a new '05 Dodge Magnum. It has worked out to be a very good tow vehicle as well carryall. I got 19mpg going to and from Kansas for the '06 SCCA Solo Nationals.
