A compression test is the fastest way. Or, you could remove the valve cover and make sure all of the valves still have the correct lash. If a valve is bent, it won't close completely and will have LOTS of lash (at least 1/4")

Well i dont have a compression tester and all the valves are moving opening and closing all the way what timing mark on the crank should be used there are 4 one white then a little bit after it there are 3 in a row i think they are red

I have timed this car before but i guess my memory is lapsing on how i did it i have the cam lined up to the first cylinder tdc and i have tried the crank on the first line and the middle of the three like i thought was right. The most its done is pop once then it just cranks and nothing after i realign it it pops again then just turns over not fire

It's the single line on the front pulley. I always set my cam timing before I put on my rocker shafts when assembling my engine, as this is an interference engine. Check your valves with a feeler gauge, anything over .015, its bent, but a compression check is more accurate, and an auto zone gauge is cheap enough,Dave

As you turn the engine over do you have stages when it turns freely and then it gets harder as you turn against the compression in the cylinder as it reached tdc. If you turn slowly and listen closely you can here the air sigh as it escapes the valves as they just open. If its just spins the same all through the cycle then you have no compression, and at least some of the valves are bent. I've done two timing belts in the last 18 months (B16) and both times the valves were bent.

And have you done the idiot check. Rotor cap in, spark plugs in, dissy connected up. I've missed all them at times.
