both the 88 and 89 CRX Si had drums in the rear wink.gif

rear discs weren't introduced until 1990.

You are most certainly right. I meant to compare the '89 with the '90.

See, I can admit when I am wrong.

Hmm I dont think I saw anyone mention brake fade.. Anyone know whether drums or disks are more resistant to heat, and which one tends to recover faster?

Overall braking power is one thing - but brake fade will put an end to your ride in no time at all dry.gif

discs will definitely have a better surface area to mass ratio.

Does anyone here have the rear discs done? if so, how well do they work? does it feel like you have more stopping power?

I have not tried swapping just the rear brakes but I can tell you that after swapping the entire brake system from an '89 Integra into my '86 CRX SI, I have noticed a HUGE improvement over the stock brake system! I swapped the entire system including the master cylinder and proportioning valve because disc brakes require more pressure to operate than drums, and I wanted to make sure that the system was proportioned properly. If you swap just the rear discs, the stock master cylinder may not have enough pressure to operate the rear brakes!

I also wanted the convenience in pad replacement that disc brakes allow. Since my car is mostly street driven I was not incredibly concerned with any additional weight in the brake system, I feel that the added stopping power is a fair trade. Besides, the rear discs do not add a signifigant ammount of weight, only a few lbs. at most.

I already have the front integra discs because i did the zc swap. thats the main reason i want the rest of the integra disc setup, so everything matches up perfect. and thank you for the response on how they perform. biggrin.gif
