Swapping Tb On A Zc To D16a3

09 May 2010 - 02:37 AM

Hey guys,

Just did the road trip and picked up an 87 Teg for the disc brake rear. A side note, my TPS on the DOHC ZC is playing up in the CRX and I noticed it runs a dual butterfly TB. Looks a little restrictive - could I swap on the D16A3 with the single larger TB butterfly instead off the Teg? If so you think it will be ok for power etc? Don't want to go backwards.

Interesting note too, this Teg was built in Oct 1986!!! Landed in Jan 87 so complianced an 87 model. But judging by the tags it's build number 25? VERY early car here in Australia. It's pretty tired, rust starting but for $181.00 off ebay good for the disc swap, spare engin/trans, ECU just good parts then off to scrap.

Has an F1 bodykit too but she is rough. Parked on a dairy farm and was home to a family of frogs inside it was like a sauna in there!

Enkei Rpf1 Wheel Fitment

01 May 2010 - 08:32 PM

G'day guys,

I have looked at combos for my1G CRX I am building for track days etc and have a question.

I currently have Buddyclub P1 15x6.5 +42 offset with a Bridgestone 205/50x15 tyre mounted on them sitting on the car. I had them sitting around so used them as a starting point to check fitment after I put on mu Tein Medevil suspension. They would be ok but Ian aka Anjin has confirmed it's a no go with big brakes which is my next mod.

I was looking to run the sae rim as Ian, the Enkei RPF1. Nice and light, good price but they only come in a 15x7. I can run a 195/50x15 tyre which is available as our control tyre - and Ian has confirmed a 3mm spacer would be required to fit over the Type R caliper swap. My only problem is that I can't run a flare on the fenders - but I can roll/sand them a bit. It's to do with the class of racing here. Also the top of the tyre looking down from the top must be inside the line of the fender. I also have the caster plates/spherical bearings etc and adjustable panhard to fitup shortly.

Has anyone run a 195/50x15 on the Enkei RPF1 or on a 15x7 +41 rim that could advise if/how it works for you?

Currently the 205/50x15 on the Buddyclub 15x6.5 +42 JUST scrubs on one side at the rear on a sharp bump when lowered a bit, but I havn't rolled the rear fenders yet - or fitted the panhard bar which may help? I would like to go to the 100mm ground clearance limit (excludes exhaust) for the class as most guys do.

I went looking at the 195/50 x 15 because it lists the same overall diameter as a 205/60x13 tyre so my acceleration won't be compromised. I was going to go a 13" rim but I can't upgrade the brakes as they won't fit - and my local tyre man says the 195/50x15 with the lower sidewall profile will out handle the 205/60x13 which he said won't handle as well.

I noticed some/most? SCCA guys run a 13" combo. Is this a rules/class thing or is it the general opinion this works better than a 15" tyre/rim.

Sorry for the long post, but feel free to lend your advice. I have most of the brake stuff now - getting the Integra rear disc swap from a car I am getting next Sunday and the front brakes are on their way too.

1g Teg Donor Car

28 April 2010 - 05:45 AM

Got this baby today to pinch some rear disc brakes for my 1G CRX track car project.

The first "modern" Honda owned was the very same car in red about 14 years ago. I gave that car hell on the track and it was my first initiation into track days. I loved the simple mechanicals and nimble handeling and it was the start of my Honda "addiction"! Back then I had some of, but not the complete same bodykit. I think it's the F1 kit? I would have killed back then to have a complete kit now here it is coming to my house to be stripped for parts!I tell you what - it's in good condition apart from the RHF fender. If the CRX was not so much lighter and more suitable for motorsport...................I would build this instead. Panels are so much easier to get here in Australia!

So I guess I should grab the following.
1. Front lower control arms
2. Rear brakes of course!!! tongue.gif  tongue.gif  tongue.gif
3. Engine and trans (I think there are some gears in there to make my CRX CG trans closer ratio?)
4. ECU - good to have a spare I guess.
5. Intake and TB - hoping it's a single one to replace the dual stock ZC one?

Anything else I should be looking to take before it gets recycled into a washingmachine?James.

1g Teg Racing

25 April 2010 - 07:35 AM

I used to own a 1G teg. LOVED it. Ran hard and never let me down. So much easier to find parts for in Australia - but a 1G CRX is 200kg lighter.......................so thats what I am building now for the track.

Still a damn good looking car!

Shorter Final Drive For My Cg Transmission

26 March 2010 - 07:08 PM

Hi guys,

I have a JDM CRX Si running the factory DOHC ZC with the CG 5 speed. I am trying to see if there is a shorter final drive ratio and/or interchangable gears from other models to try and put togather a close ratio box with a lower final drive ratio. Economy is not an issue - it's a track car. My ideal combo would give me closer ratios with top gear being 1:1 as opposed to overdrive for economy.

I think I struck it lucky in my parts car as when I put the boot into it in front of my mates it lit up both front wheels straight up so hopefully it's an LSD to!

Let me know if anybody has ideas I can look into.

Thanks,

James.
