Ive seen them before, idk what the story is, other than its just a carphone built into a DIN sized radio headunit. I assume its got a mic somewhere and plays through the stereo system.

no modifications...... nice pioneer headunit, did honda install that in 94? if so, i bet they would have used the proper install panel...

Wow... thats one of the cooler options I've seen, much cleaner than any other in-car phone.
1987 CRX DX - Devacced, excellent interior, runs perfect, the fun car.
Note: 1G CRX's are not durable against late model motorcycles...
1995 Integra LS Sedan - Bone stock except for Brembo rotors and upgraded pads

I like my in car phone solution, SE W810i, any of of the SE Walkman phones would work though, connected to the head unit via the stereo headset adapter connected to a CD->tape adapter. The mic hangs off the rear view mirror and I hear them through the car's speakers. Even adds the phone's MP3 function to the car audio that auto mute for incoming calls so I always here the phone ring. And easily move to any car with a tape player or MP3 port.

I actually bought one of these from a '94 on ebay a few months ago with the intent of putting it in my 3G.
I paid $8.99 shipped for it and everything was included, even the handset. I just don't know about how to use different service providers and such.
I'll try to post some better pics.

The in-car phone was a dealer installed accessory back in the mid 90s. I installed a few of these.
As stated, it interfaced with the factory radio and played through the radio speaker, specifically the left front.
There was the option of using a handset which mounted in the center armrest.
These are analog (not digital) signal phones which I doubt any providers are.
You used to have to program the phone with information provided by the customer's cell company after you gave them the electronic serial number (ESN) from the phone.
Cheap, reliable, pocket sized cell phones basically made in car phones like this obsolete.

You can scratch any GSM provider off the list. It might be an old CDMA phone, or older. I didn't get into cell phone stuff until I got my Cingular phones (GSM).
