I do not want to haul the entire 1987 integra home considering it has 4 flat tires, and has no title so i cant scrap it around here. So he has agreed for me to take the parts i want, and get rid of the rest in his own manner. So I want to just rip out the parts I should while im there. Obviously I want the brown top engine, mounts, tranny, axles, and knuckles/hubs. But as far as wiring goes should i take it all the way to the ecu? Also I want the rear brakes, so should I take the whole rear assembly itself or just the actual disc brakes. Anything else I should grab while im there. I have searched around for what to take, but I just want to be confident because I only want to make the hour and a half trip once.
Thanks
-Rob

Take the fuel pump, rear suspension assembly (it has internal roll stiffness which you may want), wiring to the ECU and gauges/fuse box, instrument cluster, speedo and clutch cables, steering column, and of course the ECU itself. When in doubt, take it!

I don't know much about the HF cluster, but does it have a tachometer? VSS?
You'll only need the steering rack (and pump, etc.) if you want to switch to power steering for some reason. I think it's fine w/o it.

no ill be okay without power steering, don't want to mess with that, and yes it does have a tach. What is VSS. Is that like the pgm-fi light?

VSS(vehicle speed sensor) is a sensor on the back of the speedo. It came stock on the CRX HF's and all the 1G Integras. It is needed for the ECU to run the browntop correctly. I have heard that it tells the ECU how fast the car is going, don't know what the ECU does with that signal. The older hondas had this sensor on the back of the speedo and most of the new hondas have the sensor in the transmisssion hooked up to the speedo cable. It is not needed to get the car up and running but I think it will play a role in the long term drivability of the car. At least I hope it does becasue I have a weird slight miss at idle sometimes and I just found a VSS so I hope installing that on my blacktop swap will get rid of it. Sorry to jack your thread a bit, carry on...

Well I think I may have the si cluster cause it was swapped to fuel injection. Is there a way to tell if I have this already or should I just swap the new cluster in

I believe that the HF cluster had a shift light visible in it....(could be wrong here)
I know the si does not have the shift light.

You really know you have made it far on rpr when someone quotes you in their signature. I can't wait for the day!

I have not found a way to get the 1g integra VSS to work in a crx. I have to use a 91 cluster with VSS in a NS crx cluster to get my VSS working with my blacktop.

Thanks,

Joseph

If it has cruise control: cruise computer, gauge cluster, combo switch, "cable reel", steering wheel, column trim, pedal assembly, cruise actuator, and throttle cable (in case throttle pedal uses different type connection than Civic/CRX), master cruise switch.

The HF's shift light is visible. I don't know exactly what triggers it, but it's sensitive to engine load and not RPM. Certainly it could be rewired, of course.
