just buy a new cap and rotor first. those are cheap items. As for your coil, you can buy universal msd coil at your local auto parts store for around 40 bucks. you might also want to check your spark plugs for fouling, and check the spark plug wires for resistance, and for pinholes. If you fix all that and its still giving you problems, then you move on the the expensive part. new distrubutor. If you have confidence in your mechanical skills, you can also take your current distrubutor apart and replace whatever parts have gone bad.
