Yeah...that's what I figured. I don't have the means or the time at the moment to do the job. For now I'll just check/de-clog the filter every week or so.

Update to whoever might be following this: went to swap out the fuel pump today, but when I removed the fuel inlet line from the pump I noticed a tiny cone strainer that was completely clogged up with who-knows-what. I removed the debris, doused the strainer with carb cleaner and bolted everything back up. The Si now runs like a champ. The weird humming is gone, I assume it was the pump or the relay working extra hard to try to force fuel through the gunk in the line. Crazy how such a tiny and simple part can make such huge difference.
