I'm looking into getting a set of wheels and tires for track and autox events. I want to get Enkei RPF1 for their lightness. I've seen a lot of stuff on here about the 15" wheels, but I don't want to go that big. I want to get a 14" wheel, and I need to know what width and offset will fit the 1G CRX. Note, my car is already lowered. I'm open to tire recommendations as well. I haven't decided whether to go slicks or partial tread. If I need to I can trailer the car to events, so I'm not restricted in that sense. Thanks!

I heard there is a better tire selection for the 15s and the Enkei RPF1 come in the right off set close to 38mm.

You've heard correctly. I've done a little research, and there is a lot for 15's and only a few for 14's. However, I just feel that the added lightness of the 14's is worth it... and the slight cost savings is always nice. I currently have 14" bottle caps on the car with a 185/60-14 tires. I'm looking to stick with a size similar to this. So you're saying RPF1s with a 38mm offset will fit? What wheel width is usable? 7" or 8"?

Pretty sure the RPF1 is not available in a 14" size....check with Tire Rack.
Found them on Ebay, but not on TireRack. Are they discontinued?

i would say that the tire should dictate the wheel on a race car, the other way around for a street car. race tires are not easy to find for small cars, street tires are more or less there for the look and are much easier to compromise back and forth. i am not a fan of even 15" wheels on a 1g, as they look too big. coincidentally i just mounted my 14" rpf1s a couple days ago- they are street wheels, and have basically useless 165/60r14 federal tires, but for what i need them for they work fine. if you look on tirerack for a late 90s/early 2000s miata, you can find these wheels in 14x7 +28. they should fit with much wider tires under the fenders but since my race wheels stick out way past the fenders i have to keep the car pretty high anyway-

I had 15x7 RPF1 wheels and 195/50 tires on my '85 Civic hatchback, and they worked great. I don't recall the backspace, but it was a perfect fit and looked great.

That's what I'm looking for! I looked on tire rack under the 1G Miata and found 14s. Are those 28mm offset in your pic? Have any close ups of how close do they come out toward the fender? I ask because since mine is lowered, I need to make sure they won't rub. Thanks again!

My honest recommendation? Use 13" wheels for racing and 15" wheels for street. Your choice of street tires is much better in a 15" size, and the car will perform better with 13" race rubber.

I hear ya man, but I'd rather not go slicks. I looked into race rubber and the prices are pretty steep. I would only be driving the car in HPDE, and autox events, so 'race' isn't quite what I had in mind I figure I'll have a better chance against cars in the street tire classes anyway. I should ask, do tires like Proxes, or Direzzas qualify for street tire classes?

Id go with the Kosei K1 TS. They are cheaper, and lighter.
But if you're serious about racing, 13x7 or 13x9 keizers
Call me vain, but I'm not a fan of how the Koseis look compared to the RPF1s.

Not to bust your chops or anything, but I found on tire rack that they have the 14x6" Kosei TS wheel weighed at 9.3lbs, and the 14x7" Enkei RPF1 weighed at 8.4lbs.
