Replacing Float Pin?

27 February 2013 - 02:31 AM

I am rebuilding the old carb and would like to replace my float needle and the o-ring under the float level adjustment screw.

Question: How do I remove the float needle and get at that o-ring?

Can I twist it out from the top adjustment screw? This seems to stop after just a few turns and I don't want to break anything...

Other option, from the bottom, but I would have to remove the float, I am stuck here as well! The small axle that that the float is attached to the carb by doesn't want to budge.

Which way does it come out? I see one end of the axle that is sticking out and the other is flush, I'm not even sure which end to apply pressure.

Has anyone replaced their float and pin and o-ring etc.?

Thanks Guys!

Replacing Float Pin And O-Ring?

20 February 2013 - 06:17 AM

Hello all, after a long break from my civic, I am rebuilding my carb in an attempt to get her running and have become stuck.

I have taken it all apart and I want to replace the float pin and the o-ring under the screw, how do I get the pin out? Does that top screw come out? It doesn't seem to want to move more than a turn and I don't want to break my carb.

Also I wanted to dip it and I want to remove the float, how do you guys go about taking out that little "axle" that the float hinges on? I have tried pulling on the end that sticks out with pliers and also tapping it out. Niether worked and I don't even know if I'm hitting it on the right side.

Can you safely dip all 3 pieces of the carb?

Thanks Guys!
