Hey guys does anyone make reproduction aerodiscs for 13" cf48's? I have seen repro 14" and 15" aerodisks on ebay a long time ago, but I have never seen 13" repros. I know that the 14" and 15" cf-48's use the same aerodiscs which is a bummer that they are different for the 13"s.

Also what about repro center caps and repro mugen badges on the rims?

I have also seen repro center caps, but they seem almost as rare as the real thing.

Any info would be great. I have one almost mint 13" aerodisc and one thats pretty mangled and that its. lol I would like to have a repro set if I could find them.

thanks

Brian

the centre caps are on ebay. from time to time. I have a set and their of good quality but very brittle. I had to file the tabs a bit then I just glue them on for safety.
they also come with the badges.

The 13" CF48 isnt very popular and they dont go for as much as the bigger versions so reproductions wernt a good idea at the time.

Cam (Old School CRX) was contemplating making the 13" disks. Bobby (1gencrx) shared his mold process but I haven't seem anything since on the topic.

We all know that Cam has been a little busy lately.

Yea I know the 13" cf-48s aren't all that popular but I dig'em.

Jeesh you would think a guy could work on some aerodiscs while moving to a new home and getting engaged. :P

I may have to message Bobby and ask him some questions about his process.

Thanks for the info guys.

I don't know if they want me to tell since nothing has been posted, but there has been some progress on the 13" aero covers. Cam sent the intact aero covers from my 13" CF48s to Bobby. He made a mold and sent the original aero covers back as well as a couple test sets. Cam got them in the mail a couple of weeks ago and he said they look good. There was some slight damage to my covers, so I believe that Bobby is currently trying to get the molds cleaned up a little so he can start offering them for sale. I will go call Cam right now and see if there is an progress, but I assume they should be for sale fairly shortly.

I did make a mold of one of the 13" covers, unfortunately the cover was in worse shape than I was expecting and every flaw is of course transfered to the mold. Even the nicer of the two covers he sent was still cracked and missing a piece in the center. I sent Cam a set of 4 repro'd covers last week. Maybe he will chime in with his impression of them, but the fact is they would still require refinishing to make them look good. My molds of 14" and 15" covers were made using NOS covers and the repro's come out acceptable enough that a little sanding and painting yields a nice finished cap. But these will require more work. I don't mind making them for people who need them as long as they understand they will require some finishing...

Bobby that sounds awesome. I am a'okay with sanding/ wet sanding and painting some covers. I would like to see a photo of one of the repro'd disc's from the backside.
