you guys all sound smart. i build and install custom cabinets. but i am only 18 so i guess i still have some time to get smart and do something that sounds impressive.

The smart thing is to find something you like doing, the results of which you can be proud - be that a cabinet, a computer program, a happy customer, or whatever. Being able to say you don't dread heading to work every morning is as impressive as anything else. I'm lucky that I really enjoy my job.

That is true.

The worst job that I ever heard of was grave digger/crypt cleaner. The guy said he had to removed the corpse from the crypt, crawl in, clean it, put the corpse back in, and seal it up. I think this job is even too dirty for that show "dirty jobs." He just bought a new Prelude too, so I guess I shouldn't talk bad about it.

I am an installer at Precesion Audio, and I have a small business doing custom installs. I had my own business for about 4 1/2 years. I got broken into on Jan 1st 2006. They took a little over 10 thousand dollars worth of electronics. I decided that I was tired and went to work for someone else. I get a paycheck every two weeks and someone else has to worry about the taxes of a business........I make realllllly good money with my side business...That is how I afford my toys. Day job lets me live and the night thing lets me play.....
Lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute me giving you all my extra parts.......

I'm an Occupational Therapist (no, I DON'T help people find jobs!) in a nursing home. Basically, I'm the guy that helps your grandma when she falls and breaks a hip, ends up in a nursing home after the hospital to get back to dressing herself, getting to the bathroom, standing balance, endurance, etc.

I LOVE it and feel very blessed to make our elder folks smile every day biggrin.gif
Pays pretty darn good too:)

I'm a sales rep for an industrial supply company while I go to college part-time to get my commercial building inspectors license. I used to be a bodyman (in my early 20's - I'm 29) but after getting dirty and feeling shitty for two years I gave it up to so I could get a little healthy again, not to mention a gravy desk job. wink.gif
Good thing about being a former bodyman is now I have a nice aray of tools at my disposal along with a nice big air compressor to run it all biggrin.gif Having a big-ass barn in my back yard is kinda' nice too!
If it's got tits or tires it's gonna cost ya.

Soon to be "Rat Catcher" If it comes through.

Well, it didn't come through. But due to Deregulation(Currently only in Tx and Ga), the retail electric buisness is booming. So if your state is in the process of deregulation, ask me how you can make money on electricity, and if that doesn't suit you, then ask me how you can save up to 20% on your electric bill.

The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

I used to be a lot hand at Pape' Machinery. Its basically the equivalent of being a lot attendant at a dealership, except I detailed construction equipment (ie. excavators, dozers, back-hoes, dynapaks, 20-40 ton dump trucks, etc.). When winter started the shop hired me to do the track press, it was ok besides the fact that it was below freezing and the shack was outside and i had to remove, at a minimum, around 140 nuts and bolts on each track ( 2 tracks per machine) and then press all the pins and rollers off, then flip them and put them back on, then install new bolts and nuts.

My back would have been out within 4 years of doing that. im only 5' 3.5" and 120 lbs and everyone else is at least 6 ft and 220lbs, lol

Well I work at Oreillys and i'm an installer sales specialist. I basically sell auto parts to all the new car dealers and small mechanic shops in my area. I like my job for the reason that I don't deal face to face with customers. Not that its a bad thing but you at least have the opputunity to end a conversation with just hanging up the phone and you at least get to talk to people that know what they want. The money aint the greatest but I work with people that I like and don't bother me. blink.gif Well at least most of them dont bother me.

Something tells me that the rat catcher job not coming through was a good thing.

I'm interested. How can I make money on electricity?
