Oh that makes sense!

So is there an easy way remove valve stem seals without the proper tool?
Or any one know where to get one?

The plyer type tool doesn't work worth a shit. The only tool that works good is the slide hammer version, but thats too much tool to bother with for a tool ill probably use once every 5 years.

The easiest way is to get your biggest set of strait pliers, grab the valve seals by the sides firm but don't crush them(makes it harder), then twist and rock it back and forth, twist, rock till it comes free and you smack yourself in the face with the pliers.

When you put the new seals back in, make sure you put Exhaust(Black Spring) and Intake(White Spring) on the correct sides.

Sounds good! What's the difference between intake and exhaust side valve seals? They all came in one bag, so good thing you said something or I probably wouldn't have noticed the color difference.

I have the head all washed up (it was filthy) so if I get some time this week I'll start putting the valves and springs in.

I just have always assume the exhaust ones are made from a rubber that can take more heat.

Most of the aftermarket ones Ive seen are not color coded.

So as far as the springs go, they are no longer matched up with their original valve, but I assume that does not matter a whole lot right? Don't they test the spring rates and match them up as close as possible before installing or is that just an aftermarket machine shop thing?

Is there a difference intake to exhaust?

Look in whatever manual youve got for your cylinder head, there should be a free height measurement for the springs. You can measure them with a half decent ruler and figure them out hopefully, if not a caliper.

I work for Honda, so I use use the Honda online service information, but I do not see anything on there about how to tell, besides that the intake and exaust side are like half a mm different... Of course I do not have a vernier caliper or anything to meausure that precisely with, and all the springs are marked identically.

So my parts came in earlier this week, but I haven't had a chance to post about them. I got my much needed dipstick, a couple seals I was missing, nuts, water outlet, thermostat and the valve cotters. Nothing too exciting, but I cleaned the head up a lot.

I also got my corner lights from a great buyer known as Jayscrx! Thanks Jay!
They will look good with my nice bumper lights and new bumper.

Still looking for an answer to my valve springs, haven't been able to determine a difference yet. Another thought I had was if the B16 springs were as good as GSR springs? Anyone?

Alright, so all the markings on the springs are identical, and we measured with a digital vernier caliper and none of them vary by more than .3mm or so.
Anyone have any idea?

What I'm seeing only the Intake side is dual springs, at least stock B16 and GSR is. The Stock Type R had dual springs on Intake and Exhaust. And every one has different part numbers Intake and Exhaust. So yours might be aftermarket.

Apparently their color coded as well. So look for paint marks.

B16 Inner Intakes are Pink
B16 Outer Intakes are Green
B16 Exhaust are Purple

GSR Intake Inner and Outer are Blue
GSR Exhaust is Purple

ITR Intake Inner and Outer are Yellow
ITR Exhaust Inner and Outer are Blue
