DAMMMMMMMN!!!!! That is super nice! The second shot looks like a brochure shot!!!!!

That color is right on too! I love it. laugh.gif

Thanks so much man! If I can get this thing to look like a brochure, OEM honda product, but a little
more slick, I'm happy with that!

QUOTE (eduardo nieves @ Aug 30 2008, 07:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
turned out really nice, it will sure look serious with the rims and a lip biggrin.gif

Man, I can't wait to get those BBS wheels on there. I just have to figure out how to lower this thing.
Apparently there is no coilovers available for my wagon, since its the 4WD sad.gif
Once I lower it, I'll get some new tires and put the rims on.

Can anyone chime in and help here? I've gotten some great advice already, but more is always appreciated!

Alex, RPR member from the Netherlands, is getting me a BUNCH of cool and rare Shuttle gizmos.
Included is a lip for the front. Hopefully we will have everything sorted out and on the way soon.
I'll keep everyone posted.

However, I can officially announce that I have some BRAND SPAKIN' NEW, STILL IN BOX!!, OEM '84 Honda Halogen Fog
Lights on the way from a guy in San Jose. I found the set on Craigslist.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

A SUPER cool guy named Robert recently bought a 1984 Honda Prelude. The set was in the trunk of the car.
He didn't even know the gold that he had! He was trying to sell them locally for $15. He was hesitant about shipping them, so
I made him an offer he COULD NOT refuse! ph34r.gif

They should be here around this coming Tuesday.

I'll post pics when the arrive. Man, they are FRESH!

Just checked out your build thread......WOW, nice job! I like the color choices and whole look of the wagon. You HAVE to bring her up for the meet.

I missed it, who painted it? Looks like a quality paint job.

LOL! Thanks so much Sarge, you just made my day!: Believe it or not, Maaco painted the wagon!!!!

However, I did a good amount of research on how to prep a car prior to taking it to them.

I spent a good day and a half on the body and prep work. I'm really glad I did though.

Maaco charged me $320, out the door, for their Dupont polycarbonate with integrated clear, single-stage job.

So far, so good. Hopefully, it will continue to look good.

Where is the meet on the 20th? I just can't find any info. on it, other than the fact it is on the 20th.

I'm in NC. Am I even remotely close? If so, I might try to make it.

Thanks Alex! I meant New Zealand!!! whoops! Thanks for the edit.

I can't wait to get all of your rare-part goodness on this thing. I'm sooo excited!

For those of you that don't know Alex, he is SUPER cool, and more than willing to help you get some 3g Civic parts.
I met him through Ebay, of all places! PM him, he is a great seller! I'm sure that if your part can be found, he will work
hard to help you to find it, as he has done for me.

As far as the console, I had trouble finding a console for a wagon.

I ended up getting a CRX audio console from a member here for a fair price. I have modified this unit to "work" for my wagon. It is not a perfectly clean set up, but it will work until I can find a wagon console at some point in the future.

We have been EXTREMELY busy for the last week and a half moving into our new house, and transitioning into my new
full-time teaching job. I hope to FINALLY button up the interior and take some pics for all to see. I just need to put on the
Nardi stuff, paint my new cargo-cover (Thanks Keith Edwards, another SUPER seller!), install my new rear-speakers (thanks again to Keith!) vacuum everything again, apply another coat of Aerospace, and shoot.

When will it happen....I hope soon. I'm tired of cleaning this house! I want to clean my wagon!!!!

I'm also going to be doing this swap SOON. I will be trying to host a "Swap-meet" at my house here in Mooresville, NC on a Saturday during the first part of October. I need some help with this D16a1 swap! Anyone? Free food, board (if needed).

Keep your eyes on the "meet" section here if you are able to help. I will be posting more details soon, as I get a more solid date/plan set.

...oh, also, another update:

My OEM fog light set came in. Yeah! laugh.gif

No mounting brackets and interior switch. Noooooo!!! ohmy.gif

I get the box, look on the side, and apparently, in an act of 80s stupidity,
Honda sold a separate kit for each vehicle which included a set of mounting brackets, interior switch,
and detailed installation instructions to accompany the one generic light set. Not only is this retarded,
it's also highly unfortunate.

Can anyone help a brother out on the wagon fog light brackets, interior switch, and any switch wiring.
Honda America (of course) no longer has the kits available. Even if they did, it would cost like $300 bucks
(even though they haven't sold one for 25 years, and probably never will sell one to ANYBODY again, but me!)

If you have them, and can hold them for me until October 1st (payday), it would be GREATLY appreciated.

I know that I can get the instructions here on the Wiki section. BIG thanks to the guy who posted those!!

I also need a freakin' combo switch for my steering wheel. Right side arm is broken: wipers and fluid come
on and shoot randomly. Every switch I saw at the yard is broken in the exact same way.
What's the deal with this part? Honda, despite an OBVIOUS design flaw, still wants $265 for this switch!
Anyone have one? It needs to include the rear wiper option on the switch, or course.

I have two combo switches but i can't tell which on is from a Civic or CRX. The front numbers are similar but different on the rear as follows.

Front
1. M4642, SB2L, HM-TS9-T, HM-HDS13-T Under the blinker arm: 2 TEC Japan

2. M4642, SB2L, HM-TS9-T, HM-HDS13-T Under the blinker arm: 1 TEC Japan

Rear
1. SB2L2, M7141

2. SB2L3, M4614

The look virtually identical except for the 5 pin connector on the back. Different connector shape. No 1 has narrower pins and are silver. No 2 has wider pins and are brass coloured. Now that I look closely some of the solder points on the rear are different . One came out of my CRX as I inherited a brand new one and I didn't mark the unit so I could tell later. I suspect the other is from a JY pull just to have around and silly me didn't mark that one either. I am thinking the wiring in the connectors will be different for the Civic vs CRX.

Which one matches yours if at all? If you go to a dealer they should be able to search which parts are interchangeable in their cars. If you are interested I can send pics. JS

If you want one of these Logos send me a PM

Hey,
Here is a sneak peek at the lip.

So long as the audio console looks good i pulled this console out of a shuttle its the optional JDM one with the door, just had you in mind i remember you were looking for one.

That is good news that the fogs have arrived, now i have some good news for you luck is on your side, from the same car i got the lip from, no mounting brackets though the foglight connector plugs have been cut off the bumper loom so you will have to splice your ones on. you just need to join the blue wire from the cabin to the front harness the black is earth, there is a plug that will go into your stock fuse box to power it all.

Aaaahhhhhhh!!!

JDM hotness, I can't take it!

Must stop looking!

Ok, I FINALLY got some time to get the Real-Time logo drawn up the other day.

I've uploaded all of the exact measurements here, as well as door location measurements, for all those interested.

Also included is a reference pic of the logo on my doors prior to bodywork/paint.

Let's work together to get these things replicated and preserve an important part of Honda history!

I wanted to post the link to the new swap thread I started in the "swaps" section.

I am beginning to start my D16a1 build for the 5-door, and would appreciate any/all input and help you guys could give me.

Here is the link:

Not trying to "double post". I just wasn't sure how many of you looked over the swap pages regularly.

Thanks!

Hey, I need some advice on a couple of different things.

(1) I just installed a new radiator, as my old one was shot. I found a GREAT deal on a radiator off ebay, but I didn't bother to research before I bid on it. It is the half sized, and I NOW assume these are for the smaller engines. My 1.5L is running too hot.

Could a full size versus half size radiator be the culprit here? I didn't think it would make THAT much of a difference! My best guess is that it does matter. Can someone confirm that I do HAVE to have the full size radiator?

My thermostat is good. I replaced it about 2 months ago. So, I know that is not the problem. New hoses. It must be the radiator, right?

I put up a "for sale" thread in the FS section, in which I'm trying to trade someone a full size radiator for my half-size. I am hoping that this will remedy my overheating problem, but just wanted to ask everyone first, to make sure.

(2) My wagon is getting like 21 mpg with the D15, and thats with the overheating, and a wack carb, which I can defin. tell is running rich. Just anyone have a well maintained 4WD wagon that can give me a realistic figure as to the maximum mpg (city) that can be expected out of this engine. I checked the fueleconomy site, which said I should be getting 21 mpg with this engine. According to them, I'm right on track. But I feel like I could be doing a lot better, with a carb rebuild, radiator, and new exhaust. Can anyone confirm a higher mpg number is obtainable?

The reason I ask: I was hoping for better mpg out of the stock engine. Been contemplating lately whether to do this D16 swap, because of budget issues. However, IF I CAN GET BETTER MPG OUT OF THE D16 SWAP, then I would have more "ammo" to tell the wife when getting her to side with me on this. We were together about the swap, but with the economy like it is, we have been second guessing lately, and have considered to continue working on the d15. I even bought a carb rebuild kit, new floats, and power valve from Honda. So, I'm ready to rebuild. However, I could sell or return that stuff, so no biggy.

More power PLUS better mpg would be ideal. What do you guys think? D16 equals better mpg too?

Thanks for any and all help.

- Mr. Confused.

Can't give you a definitive answer on the radiator but as for gas mileage my D16A1 is getting between 35-40 MPG. JS
