Jamie and I have never found anyone with an original MUGEN rear spoiler to let us make a copy...if they are afraid that their part would be damaged, why would we go buy a pristine orignal MUGEN body kit and make molds from it if we though we would damage it?  It is sitting back in the crate the we got it out of before we made the molds.

Kirk

woah you are not using the orginal kit....

So you guys make replicas? Are they for sale?

DUH!!! it s the biggest news on this board for a year

biggrin.gif I have a good excuse....

yeah you do GT pilot contact him not only is one of the most knowlegable people around hes a cool guy but the price is steep

I would love to have either wing on my car in CF. Mugen preferred, but would be happy just to have ANY wing in CF. I would love to have the mugen kit, but that means I would have to have hack at it to fit my 86 CRX, and I don't want to hack. Plus, I don't want the really wide wheel wells of the Mugen, that canadian fender kit I saw on some cars would be nice, if I can only find one!

unless i'm mistaking...there is no "hacking" involved to install the kit on a 84-87 crx.

he probably means molding. At any rate the kit does take some elbow grease and alot of cash to make it work, but dude if you have the cash and time it's totally worth it. biggrin.gif I want the widebody kit to put on the next crx i get. I plan on just leaving this one as a clean daily driven sleeper with everything under the hood. ph34r.gif

No we are not making anything for the 1g yet. Everything we make is for the 2g CRX. I simply offered that we could do it without damaging the original if it were made available to us somehow. Having said that, I see that Jamie and Kirk are also offering the same. Jamie's work is very good and there's no need for me to produce it if they are offering the same. We just have to get one to them to copy.

Ok, let's talk a little bit more about what people really want...

Do you want a replica of an 86-87 Si spoiler in fiberglass?

Do you want a replica of an 85 Si in fiberglass?

Do you want a replica of the MUGEN spoiler in fiberglass?

The 86-76 SI spoiler is not a problem - I have one (as does Jamie) so building a mold wouldn't be a problem.

The 85 Si and the MUGEN spoiler we do not have...I am sure we could come up with the 85 Si part, but the MUGEN part is still evading us.

So, how serious are you people about this?

I have one of each, unfortuately the '85 has a few splits in it. Not to mention the grass growing out of it. (Awful way to tease, isn't it?)

I've always liked the way the later one extends the hatch, visually adds a little length to the car. But I like the shape of the '85 lip, reminds me a little of the old Porsche Whale-Tail.

Jay

If you love the Elise, drive a Se7en - Caterham or whatever...
It has even less content than the Elise, is less graceful looking
...and changes direction like a ping pong ball whacked by Thor.

Jay,

Funny - I like them both for the same reasons as you...I am considering making a hybrid that that would take the 85 lip and add it to the 87 body - an extended line whale tail!
