Alright let's see if I can get in everything I want to say!

I have the TEIN setup on, haven't been able to play with it much. I know you can't expect stock ride height from this setup, but I was amazed at just how low the coil overs will go! Mine is fairly low, and I have the adjusters almost all the way up. I just can't get those 205's to tuck smile.gif

As for the engine, I got it back a few days ago and it is now in my car and running. After being challenged with a mysterious oil leak, I was able to finally narrow it down to it most likely being one of the VTEC solenoid gaskets (one of the few the shop didn't replace with the build, as I had those parts at home). I found the answer in a Google search, where several people complained about the exact same looking leak (sort of looked like a head gasket). So I pulled the VTEC assembly off and found a weird cut at the edge of the screen. Strangely enough the used spare gasket I was going to throw in temperarily had the exact same cut. Luckily I had yet another one to throw in, and so far no more oil leak. The fresh oil is so clear it was almost impossible to see!

As for the rest of it, I did set the timing to the best of my ability and I broke it in as the performance shop suggested. I can tell it DESPERATELY needs a good tune. It hesistates badly at certain RPMs and doesn't want to idle as well as it should.

Just as I planned with the last engine, I'm going to mess around with it a while and put a few miles on it, do a leak down test and compression test again, and schedule a dyno tune as soon as possible.

Final engine configuration-
Like I said above I replaced the original block with another from the same model and year. I had it bored to 81.5, PR3 pistons, high compression valves, and freshly cut valve seats along with replacing a few worn rocker arms.

And the long awaited exploded piston pictures! Sorry for the poor quality, the camera didn't want to focus that close up. If you look closely, you can see where the pieces are broken off. This is one of the two destroyed pistons.

Alright! I got it dyno tuned last thursday!

It made 206whp and 132tq at 9,000, and was still climbing.
This setup makes enormous power up high, and even though the power was still coming on strong I didn't feel comfortable revving stock rods to 9,000 let alone anything higher.

Overall I am very pleased, I got the power I hoped for and the tune fixed the hesitation throughout the rpms.

Sadly, this concludes the major portion of my build. But as any true car enthusiast knows, it is never truly done.

I have attached the dyno sheet below! Let me know what you guys think.

im no expert but that graph looks like the vtec kicks on at 7k. wonder if you can change the time it kicks on and that would help your ability to stay under 9k.

It does. With these cams the car "falls on its face" as the tuner said, if it engages lower.

So the car is still running great! Oil stays clean for a long time, and doesn't lose any! I'm very happy to see that after the first version ended up so badly...

I finally got around to replacing the Holley throttle body with a nice Skunk 2 pro series. It is a night and day difference! Smoother, doesn't stick at all and the throttle plate actually fits the bore nicely, so it doesn't constantly leak air. Car actually idles where it should now.

Car feels great all around, so now it's on to the body work... ohmy.gif

Unfortunately whether I record it with my digital camera, or my phone, the audio quality will be terrible sad.gif

All I know is that first gear is useless, and I break the tires loose again before VTEC hits in second... I need slicks.
