I will be ditching my Mugen shift knob for this one. So sign me up.
I vote, YES, to engraving after anodizing. Should be black knob with silver logo.
Great conversational piece.
Helps easily I.D. RPR heads in So.Cal.
JEM Purchase Order confirmation:
1 x "OverSized Square" - Delrin - black
1 x "Triangular" - aluminum - anodized clear
Is combined shipping available on multiple purchase?
Offering any dealer deals for multiples?
May want to purchase more for display purposes too.
These will go great on the DC Short Shifters. (wink, wink... shamless plug. LOL! )
keep me posted, thanx.
supporting the cause...
How is this supported?
I'm very much interested in white ones as well.
Help please explain.
Has any one else experienced this as well?

Just a heads up,
White Delrin looks like crap as soon as you get your hands on it. The stuff will stain with everything you throw at it. If it where me buying a Delrin knob, I would go black.
My two cents.

I have a white derlin Buddy Club Type A shift knob. I've had it for a few years. I use it daily. It's still white. That's all the experience I've had. However, I thought that one of the 'special qualities' of derlin was that it is not impregnable.

Thank you,
Julian

When we are ready to start production, I will post payment details.
As for dealer multiples, I dunno. I mean, I'm not making much on them to start, the proceeds are to help pay for running the site. If I sell them to you at a discount, well, there is no incentive for me to do that, I'm already running at a loss to run the site.

Tom, put me down for oversized square, black delrin.
Hats off to you, and the other small band of guys making custom parts for the 1G/3G.

Not quite that good. About $31.38 at current rates. Maybe I should have priced them in Canadian dollars...

I'm down for the style that best suits my personality: oversized square !
Any color as long as it's black w/the etching done after the anodizing.
Thanks Tom!

I have made a ton of different parts in white Delrin. It is very hard to make anything out of it without staining it. The moisture and oils in your hands will leave smudges. I have even seen white Delrin take on a color when in contact with a colored fluid. From what I have seen, Delrin appears to absorb water. It is probably the moisture that carries the color into the surface.
I will guess its ability to absorb a fluid is why it makes such a great solid bearing material (the main reason you whould use Delrin is for a solid bearing). I am guessing once you oil a Delrin bushing, the oil is absorbed into the bushings surface allowing the bearing to relese lubricant as the bushing wears. I am only guessing with all of this.
"J", you got any comments on this?
I only discourage the use of white Delrin for a knob from experiance of handling the stuff. Maybe the problem is that I am just a big grease ball!

Sounds like you have WAY more experience that me with derlin. I've only had the one white Buddy Club knob. Who knows, maybe they soaked it in something, or sealed it somehow. I can say that it has gotten a lot more smooth in the years that I've been using it. And it's still bright white. I've had my share of dirty hands too.
Oh, and money sent....

Well, your experience sounds convincing to me. I will be the first to say I am a complete idiot if it all works out with white Delrin for a knob. I will also be really curius to see how it works out for others. Until Tom even suggested it, I had never heard of using Delrin of any color for a shift knob. I have to admit, the ones I have started to build are looking pretty cool.
