Just a progress report.
Not a lot done recently. Had to replace a hub as the bearing had gone, and we hit a roadblock with the axles. Basic wiring is in - now to tie it all down and do all the fiddely bits like lights etc. About a solid week left is my best bet, provided we don't have to undo stuff.
Mike is off to Europe for three weeks, and so is the owner of the workshop for four weeks. So nothing will happen until early September now.
Which gives me time to get my 'spare' black crx up and running. Browntop with blacktop pistons, port and polish and 5 angle valve seat job, head cut 30 thou and block decked 25 thou for about 11.5 compression, cams and adjustable cam gears, extractors. 24 mm torsion bars and 350 lb springs in back. It'll become the daily driver while the b18 blue crx gets reserved for mostly track time.
And the blue one is getting 27mm torsion bars and 450 or 500 lb springs in back, and a 4.9 final drive.
No point in being bored.

the original australian owner of this car shifted house recently, and uncovered the original Showa front struts and the original race rear springs. Quite interesting comparisons which I thought I'd post for information/interest.
The SHOWA strut is a bit shorter compared to the oem original. It's also supposed to be rebuildable, and I've been recommended to a shop that can rebuild koni's and apparently these.
The rear springs are about half the standard height. Also a bit thicker.
When we've finished having fun with the b16 engine and put the car back to as close to original as we can, these will be interesting to try out.

Yep - its a replica of an Abarth rally fiat. Fibreglass hood and boot, replaced dash with an aluminium one etc. I'll try for some detailed photos and description next time I'm there.

Are those the Mugen race springs? IF so they have a significant drop and are STIFF. They'd make a good race spring. Not so great for the street as i found out - unless of course you happen to like extremely harsh rides.

The springs should be mugen - the car came through the mugen workshops.
Be interesting to try them with the integra rear axle and 205/50/R15's or 195/60/R14's on my own car. The monkyztec springs have no room for adjustment down with the former, and only 15 mm with the latter. So what the mugen drop would do could be challenging. Might have to find some tyres for the 13 inch rims I have from this project.

Acquired some mugen made (debatable) 4-1 headers.
Anjin has some time off work - so there is a plan to get stuck into this project by late september - when i get some time off work too.

We got the car cranked over with the B16A in there tonight, need to sort out another drive shaft, hook up the fuel pump and wiring for the lights. also the diameter of radiator hoses is different so we will tackle that soon too!
Got my membership and CAMS license for the local track - so its making me very happy to see this progress now!

Last night Ian and I were fitting the RH driveshaft. Ian organised to have one made up using an Integra CV but it turned out the length was too long and the driveshaft was binding. So we made up a driveshaft using some spares - now just need to clean it up with a new CV boot and some clips.
Also put in a gen1 indicator stalk and I will reconnect/splice all the wired to hopefully get some brake/indictators and headlights working.

Did some wiring on the indicator/light combination switch but having trouble working out how the hell its meant to work when indicators come on - I get no power from any of the wires (power is there or changes as I put the headlights on etc).

not at all - pic doesn't show it well but there's about 3-4mm gap between the caliper and wheel
