Ok so if lots of others need those same items and have $$$ in hand that's what you need to be approaching manufactures with. Not some non specific dream list with no promises or guarantees.

Even though in the back of my mind, what you say is somewhat true...One can at least TRY.

At least alot of us believe that way...

Who knows what might happen?

At least were trying. Thanks for the up lifting Don.

You didnt read what I said its already been tried.... Here and in JP. Now if you really want to get parts made.... not just dream and surf the net. You have to approach it from a business standpoint. Is there something that you all need right now that maybe 200+ people will pony up with cash for right now??? When we tried we would get ten or so to agree and half would flake when it came time to pay. But a few things went though like the header run. Not all parts take super large numbers to reproduce but surely you can see the point?? Trim parts etc will take large numbers and $$$ no matter who your taking to - Honda or someone else.

I hate to agree. We have a level of passion for these cars that any real business will not have.
Realistically, if a company cant possibly make money on it, it aint happening.
And to make money on a part such as the rear window trim theyd probably have to make a few hundred or thousand pieces.

I understand what your saying however I'm not expecting them to reproduce every part for our cars just some exterior trim parts which are high wear items.
It would be nice to have a list just the same.
Funny as a journalist I see petitions all the time, trust me some do work.
Thanks for the support guys!

I have to agree that this will never happen.

1. They probably don't have the molds any more.

2. It isn't worth it for them to retool just to make a limited number of parts that may not sell.

Say what you will about BMW, but I do admire the BMW Heritage Program where you can still buy every single part for a BMW 2002.

You're Mad!

Well thank God for that, 'cause if I wasn't, this would probably have never worked.

I have been thinking about contacting some of the Classic GM truck, GM car, Ford, Chrysler car aftermarket companies and see if they are ready for Honda reproduction parts.

Skip is right. I would contact the restorer companies for the American Muscle cars. Here are the four I would approach:

http://www.ecklers.com/Default.asp?
http://www.opgi.com/indexhome.asp
http://www.classicindustries.com/
http://www.yearone.com/

These companies do short runs of all kinds of window moldings and rubber. They also stamp out steel body panels for restorers. Who knows, maybe they're ready to start supplying replacement body and trim parts for the metrics.

Agreed but so far no one but one member has even stated what he will pay for or that he has any money??? Any company will be much more receptive to a production run if you can approach them with there is a need for part XZY123 no longer available from Honda. We have 130 members so far on a waiting list for part xyz123, deposits ready, and are looking for a manufacturer - would you consider this and if not what will we have to do to make this proposal acceptable?
Vs
Hey whata think about some parts for 20 year old Hondas. We got guys dat want a buncha $hit- Just look we gots a list of old hondas here! laugh.gif

Once doors close- some times they don't open that's why the first contact has to be reasonable and it has to prove there is at least a small demand for what your asking for. I truly think that there was potential for this type of thing ten years ago, not with Honda but with Jackson racing and others that showed some interest with the 73-79 Civic board. Sadly some key people messing around and backing out caused them all to go away. End of story. sad.gif
I'm not trying to harass this thread, but learn from our mistakes - if you don't refine your request it will not show the strength it needs to get a true shot at reality. Dream or no dream.

You guys approched this all wrong...

One of you guys with some money just needs to start their own restoration parts company. The classic cars guys had to start somewere like this. Then blow it up like Year One or Classic Industries. Honda will never do anything for you but a possible licence or stamp for the parts. Which is gona cost some money.

Sending Honda a few names off the internet is gona get you knowwhere for restoration parts. I know some of you guys are big dreamers so good luck with all that...
