hey guys, what about the honda insight...

i was driving around recently, and it looks a lot like a crx, more like a second gen tho.

the only real problem with it is those ugly panels on the back that cover up half the wheel. I figure some body work and maybe a different offset wheel or spacers would make it look pretty sweet.

anybody else got an opinion on that

Thanks for all the replies. I will be checking out the vehicles mentioned.

Yeah, you're also right about other CRXs. I'm still thinking hard about the local one for dirt cheap. I think it was an 87. Slap a new engine in, paint, and go.

Shouldn't the 87 take an engine upgrade, too?

Heck, if you get a good one with little/no cancer for $200 with a title, you have a lot of space to throw money. You could justify $1800-2800 into it minimum!

Well, I'll have $250 in junk replacement parts after my "deer" experience. I'm trying for 300k miles...

i said nothing about how slow it is or anything about performance.

i was simply saying how close it resembles a crx. It's got the same basic shape, it even uses the front braking our rexes do, a little upgraded from the 84 brakes, but the part places offer them for our cars.

other than that, yes an insight is slow, 0 to 60mph in 12 seconds, my quarter time is about 14.7. My last car did a 0 to 60 in 7 seconds, but i never took it to the races.

I think the Honda Fit is a good Crx, Wagonvan, Hatchback replacement 1.5L, good gas mileage, small (cept height) light and Spoon sports already has a lightweight race ready version.

I bet the fit would look hot w/a chop'd top, lower'd, nice rims and some Spoon Sport, Honda Performance mod's. I think it will compete well w/the Scion Xa, Xb if Honda keep providing factory mods.

I've been checking out a '92-'95 Civic HB in black for my next car.

the RSX is the fourth generation integra.

i don't know what RSX stands for i think it just like CRX or NSX or TSX. they don't mean anything.

CRX - Civic Renaissance Experimental (or model-X depending on who you talk to)
NSX - New Sportscar Experimental

I wonder hor the Toyota Echo Hatch (now called the Yarris) handles?
Prob not as good as the CRX given it's much higher CoG.
It's a cute little car though.

there hasnt been a car like the crx since, and probably never will again.

just look at hondas new products , or imports as a whole every generation they get larger, heavier, and loaded with more luxocar option crap, if honda re-released the crx , it would be 3,200 lbs mad.gif , and probably have a backseat. sorta like the new FOUR door charger .

the days of the lightweight stripped down econobox are over, thats why my favorite import cars are all eighties cars,

Citroen Xsara looks like a modern CRX, but of course, we live in U.S. and the majority of people likes "american muscle" cars and that's why there isn't a market for this kind of cars here in the U.S.
Canada may be different, it seems to me that you canadians are more open minded about compact cars.
