FYI,
I updated the first post.

David, Thanks for the help on this.

Would modified Teg axles like GTPILOT and EPCIVIC with the 4340 Civic hubs work for you Teg guys???

Well, I just spent the last two hours pouring over this stuff. I'm not done yet, but here is a small taste of what I've got. It's not much, but that's because I'm trying to focus on cars that would be more likely desirable for the track, than not.

I'm assuming anything made by Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth is not worth looking at. They made a lot of 26 spline outer CV joints, but mostly for mini-vans, and four door sedans. tongue.gif

Ford made a lot of 26 spline CV's too. But I'm sure nobody is making chromoly hubs for the Escort! HA! blink.gif There is a ZX-2. Is that worth looking at?

Chevy/GM made a bunch of 26's, but they don't race the GEO do they? OUT! dry.gif

Volvo has a 26 for the V70, 850, and the 570. NOT! laugh.gif

Next up is Lexus. Maybe? The ES300, EX300, and ES250's seem to use a 26 count spline. Not real sure if they are ever raced though. Let me know and I can get more detail for those models.

Saab! 9010, 9000, and 1000. NOT!

Kia! NOT!

Audi? The 80, 100, and 200 Quatro's, 4000 and 5000. Let me know if you need info on those. I doubt they are of interest.

Now Mazda has possibilities. For the 26 spline count, I have:

83-87 626 and MX-6
93-00 626 and MX-6
and
91-93 Miata and MX-5

I know the Miata is a RWD, but they use a 26 count spline on their outer joint. If anyone is making racing hubs for the Miata, the spline just might fit.

Now for the Honda/Acura. What is cool about these, is if the outer joint is 26 count spline. That means anyone who is making hubs for these models will have a broach that I'm almost 100% sure would work for our 1G Integra hubs. Here is what I have:

90-93 Integra
96-01 Integra
and
94-01 Integra GS-R and Type R

Somebody has to be making hubs for that last entry. The broach I bet is perfect!

All Civic's from 88 to 05 use a 26 count spline. Anyone making racing hubs for the later Civic's would definately be worth looking at. Drag racing outfits maybe?

The last make is Toyota. Toyota made a ton of cars with the 26 count outer CV joint spline. They even made a couple in the 23 count. I still need to pour over those sheets. Shouldn't take more than an hour. It's too late at the moment, but I'll get on that tomorrow.

My vote is the 94-01 Integra GS-R and Type R, or the 88 to 05 Civics. Somebody must be making hubs for those cars. I say check out some Drag Racing outfits too. Anywho, I bet the 26 count broach they use will fit our early Integra hubs.

Sorry about the 23 count spline. Nobody seems to use that count other than a few early years of Honda and Toyota. Is it possible that we only need to make the 26 spline count hubs and the racers can just move to it? Can SCCA be petitioned to accept the 26 spline count 1G Integra hubs?

That is all for now.

David

smile.gif As soon as I read EP's post I remembered, from the past, that axle mod option for D16 swaps.

That is exactly what I did for my first 1g D16A1 swap 15 years ago ('87 CRX Si). I used the Civic hubs & knuckles and ran rhs Civic axles w/'teg inner CV's. Jeez, I had just forgotten that option...grey matter is slowly escaping... dry.gif

I already have two 'teg inner CV's...they're currently on the car!

Getting two rhs Civic axles is easy; I even have 'core' axles ready and waiting.

The CV swap is 'cake'...I've done countless CV rebuilds/replacements in the past...

PM sent.

Thanks Buford for working this and thanks Chris for re-booting my hard drive!

Did you know that the Drive Shaft Shop has custom hubs made out of Chromoly? I don't think they make them in house, but they're having someone do it.

EDIT: Their tag line is, "We specialize in the impossible." Give them a call. Who knows.

I bet Keith (Hasport) could tell you where the Drive Shaft Shop gets their hubs made.

Just thinking out loud.

Drive Shaft Shop does an axle/hub kit for the 86 to 89 Integra, is that not the same dimensions as the hub we are looking for. Not sure on spline count though? Couldn't we just buy the hubs from them and be done with it??

They are having custom hubs made for an even larger spline count on their super high end stuff. But what I think is important is someone is making them. We need a spy! ph34r.gif

Hmmmmmm, the whole shebang (axles/hubs) is available now:
http://www.driveshaf...tail.php?pid=27

$1300 though!

I'll probably call tomorrow and see if we can buy just the hub out of the $1300 'kit'. I called today but I'm on the West coast and they had closed.

1-800-564-2244 ...feel free to call tomorrow morning East coasters!

Neat!

Holy Cow! I didn't see those J. laugh.gif I was only looking at the 1,000+ HP stuff.

If those are for the 86-89 Integra, and have the same 26 count spline in the hub, then we should be good to go. cool.gif

EDIT: Nope, different spline. Larger to receive the bigger outer CV joint. At least, that's what it said in their description.

Still worth looking at! Whoever is making these hubs can probably make them with the 26 count spline too. I hope so anyway. Maybe even the 23. cool.gif

Yes I saw that they have integra hubs with even bigger axle spline == even thiner hub wall. And, they didn't say the were 4340.

I'm sticking to my plan with the 4340 Civic hubs for now.

We have the correct Integra solution with the axle hybrid for our target HP.

They seem to cater to the street racer and Drag Racer with 600 to 1000 hp. What works for 10 second strait line runs will not work for road racing with curb hopping, wheel banging, off course excursions, 40min practice, 40 min Quali, 40 min racing, every time out, and wide offset wheels, breaking and accelerating, while turning etc. etc.

I don't know who makes theirs and how good they are. I know my supplier and what they do and the quality they produce.

I would like to see us get 10 set commited to ASAP so we can get a final pricing target.

I'll tally the interest count and post soon.

I agree better a trusted source than an unknown. Who knows where theirs come from or what they're made of.

I'm "interested" but I need to have a cost to see how interested I may be. I've made a fair amount of money painting helmets that I get to spend on car stuff but I've already invested about $1800 in the car this year and I need to see what's left in the budget. I'm sure you understand.

The other issue is I have Teg hubs in my car so I'd have to change axles to run civic hubs which is more cost.

Anyway, put me down as interested but not confirmed.

Put me down as interested - I just need to get under mine and see what a JDM Si runs for a standard front hub. I run the intermediate shaft standard too with I think equal length shafts so will all this work for me?

DSS is using Chevy Truck 4x4 front outer joints on those kits.
I don't think they make any hubs for Hondas with Honda splines, but I could be mistaken.
I'm interested in making hubs with 26 splines but I haven't found anyone with a broach yet, and I've been looking.
I have also inquired about getting a broach made, but all the broach manufacturers I have spoken to want a blueprint to work off of, not a sample.
