well I got the rex home took me two hours to load it up on the car dolly. had one rear whell locked up (I think it is the brakes) and I had no keys for it and the wheels were turned to the right. Talk about a fight!

BUILD YOUR CAR ACCORDING TO CLASS

^-- This. I learned too late that removing emissions equipment would bump me to CSP. biggrin.gif Although wasn't there a reclass starting this year that applied to our cars?

i remember reading about a reclass, but i think it applies next year. i think it's a GP/EP issue, but there could have been something else; i just classed my car for autox THIS year. won't have to worry about that next year though...going back to rallyx. had more fun throwing dirt. biggrin.gif

were you running STS before, darkhand?

what emissions stuff bumped you? cat? cause i don't have the EGR stuff, but i have a cat (but it's empty wink.gif ) and i don't remember that inhibiting me from being any lower than CSP...my teg brakes overclassed me.

STS was my original intent, but my devac is what bumps me. 14.10 of the Solo rulebook in Street Touring:

QUOTE
14.10 ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN
Engine and transmission must remain unmodified, including emissions
equipment, except as noted below. All emissions monitoring
system hardware and software must be operationally functional as
originally intended by the manufacturer.

And the rule opens up in Street Prepared at 15.10.F:
QUOTE
F. Emission control devices may be modified or removed.

sad.gif

Carbs are unrestricted in SP though, and I've always wanted to try out a Weber... smile.gif

It's all moot though since I haven't competed yet anyway. smile.gif I don't intend on going past the local level, and I hear classification is up to the interpretation of the event runners at the regional level anyway? I think the devac is all that bumps me, wonder if they'd slip me into STS anyway. smile.gif

if you're going to go SP, i think you can change the whole manifold, so i'd go with bike carbs or something. i've heard the difference between the weber and the stock carb is not as drastic as the bike carbs...supposed to add a lot of power. i'll let you know when i get mine on!

the way i understand it, the event runners will let small stuff slide, until you start winning. wink.gif

slow rex, you need an interior to do STS. i think the straight up Prepared classes are the first ones you don't need an int. you might be able to find enough int parts from members on here to compete in STS and that might be a better plan since you're running the 1.3L. either that or i think G prep runs mostly stock gutted cars...

but read the rules for sure.

Well I'm back from the dead lol I did start racing solo 2 and at the moment I run my DD it is a 94 escort wagon lowered on coilovers 4in,performance struts, short shifter, strut bars,6in wide wheels with 195/60/15s. I put the Crx on the back burner for a few years and some things opened up for me so now I think I want to run a purpose built car. That is where the crx comes in I have been trying to get rid of that little thing but no one wants it cause it has no title. So I'm thinking about building it for the modified class I do need some info on some things first. How well do these cars perform in a class like modified? I do know I want to stay sohc for weight purpose and what kind of aftermarket is there supporting these cars for suspension?

I say I have the fastest front drive rallyx car, but I certainly didn't prove it last time out. Rallyx is the cheapest, slowest, most difficult motor sport you can find. If you want to win EP class in autocross you will need a fully prepared car, witch will cost mega bucks, but you could show up with a piece of crap car at a rallyx, and win. With about 150hp, I have to much power for rallyx, and not enough for autox. These cars, well prepared, win what they enter. Parts are hard to find for this car, I run a low budget beater, so I can find what I need. Suspension parts can still be had, but shocks are getting hard to find. Dave

I'd say look at Street Modified. And don't rule out a DOHC engine. I've been having a blast with the B20Z in SMF. Total cost in my car as I race it is about $8k, that includes the cost of buying 4 cars (84 1500S, 86 Si, 87 Integra and 99 CR-V), got really lucky on the CR-V due to a wreck wife was in.

SMF is tough with our cars, the minimum weight for a CR-X since it is a 2 seater puts me at 1820lbs for a 1.6L. I am at 1837lb as of last weekend and I can still find about 20-30lbs I can still remove legally. I am too light to go Forced Induction, or bump the engine size. If I did I would have to put 100lbs of ballast in the car due to the displacement and FI weight penalty. To me I rather be lighter, so I will be always under powered for the class, but I am the only one close to min weight in SMF.

Even with a stock D16a1 I did very well at the Dover Evolution Super Shootout against 2 national champs. I was slower on Saturday then Jinx and Kar, but after watching some runs and a discussion I found lots of time. I did beat jinx and was only .5 second off of Kar Sunday during the shootout. My car has about 1/2 the power both jinx's(250ish) and Kar's(280ish) K24 powered EGs have, yet still only being about .5 second off Kar's fastest run. So the CR-X is super competitive in SMF, due to no weight.

Here is a vid form the shoot out, I need an extra 200-500RPM in 2nd.

Have any more info for me on the rally-x as far as what works with these cars and what don't?

That looks like a pretty darn quick d16a1 stock? Is that a stock shifter? What tires you on?

As far as the engine it is stock, even has the cast exhaust manifold on it. But, I have a lightweight crank pulley and flywheel.
The shifter is a Kaka replica no reach short throw.
Front tires are 255/40-13 Hoosier A6s mounted on 13x9.5 keizer wheels, rears are 225/45-13 Hankook C71s mounted on some heavy steel 13x7 Circle wheels.

The CG trans has very short gearing, so with these smaller tires and light weight, it flies.
