What's wrong with the Ford Mondeo? blink.gif It's ideal, turbo diesel chipped (160hp/305lb tq) and can legally tow 1.8 tonnes. biggrin.gif

Nothing is wrong with that. I applaud using that as a two vehicle. I dolly tow my CRX with my Subaru WRX. It looked like a Focus wagon to me.

I want pics and measurements of the trailer though.

The short ram was clearly sapping power and getting red hot within minutes, with no fresh air to breath I can't see why anyone would run it... ok it sounds good, but who cares.

So this is how it looked before, K&N 57i short ram:

And now after some ghetto craftsmanship from me, mk2 CRX ebay intake, rubber seal and a sheet of aluminum:

I'm happy with that. biggrin.gif

I built something very similar for my car and it made a huge difference. Tested it at the drag strip using a heat gun the measure the temp differences at the filter. What size tires are you running?

I'm going to wrap the intake pipe in bubblewrap (thin, small air pockets) twice as a ghetto heat barrier. biggrin.gif

Tyres are 175/555 15" Dunlop Slicks.

Also have some 185/45 slicks.

Any wider and they'll probably scrub.

When I get time, I will do. smile.gif

I have to drive the car on the ramp, jack it up, take wheels off etc... it's very low. Time was short yesterday so didn't get chance.

Had a rubbish day yesterday doing a test day at Cadwell Park (race track), driver side (short) driveshaft popped out! sad.gif

Messy.

Also after the cambelt was installed by a trained mechanic and to Hodna figures the car is running like a dog, no power below 5k rpm and I mean NO power. It won't pull past 80mph and going up slight inclines on the track caused it to slow down!! sad.gif

I must say he didn't get a chance to do the clearences or time it with his gun, I just hope both of those things will sort it out.

It's a ZC1/D16A1 so should have 130hp... it feels like it's got 50hp - no joke.

Hi Ed.....just curious but doesn't the UK issued ZC powered CRX have equal length drive shafts??

If it was running fine before the belt change then I would think the valve clearances were fine, or at least acceptable. Same goes for the ignition timing provided the timing belt was the only thing that was changed. Granted both of these things should be done when you do a timing belt but if they aren't the car should run about the same pre and post timing belt change.

I would suspect that the cam timing could be a tooth off? Hopefully no more than that or other things could have been damaged.

Just seems unlikely that a timing belt change alone would have that large an affect on the engine's performance.

Also, where in the UK are you? Just seeing that you have been testing at Cadwell and Donnington means you can't be living too far from Yorkshire?

I was born in Sheffield but have been in Canada for 27 years now.
