My only guess on the tach could be that the signal wire is getting electrical "noise" from the ignition system past 5K... maybe try running some shielded wire for the tach signal? I dunno man... I'm def. not the guy to ask, but that's my $.02. Other than that the car sounds great man! Feel a power difference over the ole' EW?

I'm getting the bug for a 1st gen myself. Plan to do an all motor build in it like you did but with an a6.

i would think maybe your tach issue could be an issue with the grounds for the aftermarket ignition system, alot of them are sensitive to noise. maybe try running the ground from the ignition controller to the battery?

Aren contact the Technical Department by phone at MSD Ignition ( Autotronics Controls ) and explain your tach issues to them. I will bet that one of their "Tach Adapt" units will solve your problem, inexpensively I might add.
