My first car was a 1984 CRX. I paid 300 dollars for it and pushed it home with 3 flat tires and half the engine in the trunk. I purchased it in 1999 and simply wanted to make it a better all around car that would be capable of occasional autocross duty.

I was never concerned with making the car look better and I only wanted to make it faster and more reliable until recently. I never had enough guts to share my build but I have received so much help from this community over the years I figured I should try to contribute more.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

Current setup:

Engin: B16A3 Built by Lowcash racing of Phoenix AZ. Skunk 2 pro IM, Blox racing 70mm TB, STR fue rail, AEM fuel ragulator, Hondata S300 V2 ecm OBD-1.

Suspension: 28mm torsion bars, 450lb Toyota Corolla springs with custom adapters, Addco rear sway bar, KYB GR2 shocks and struts.

Body: 86 si doors and skirts, Fiberglass fenders with D1 vents, Fiberglass gen 2 mugen bumper, CF heeltoe hood. Rota Slipstream wheels. The paint is white plasti dip with pearlizer.

This is how she looked after I transplanted the B18A1. The car was running on OBD-0 and pretty much set up like a factory 92 integra.

I made this lip from a factory crx bumper I sourced from a scrapyard. I inverted it and trimmed it in half.

After an accident that destroyed the front end of the car, I purchased a fiberglass bumper and fenders. The bumper skin is a copy of the Mugen 90/91 CRX bumper, modified to fit the 1st gen. The splitter is made from a sheet of 1/8" plastic. I purchased the hood from Marcus of Heal Toe Automotive.

Looks good! Has the whole car been painted now? The car seems to be lowered; what have you done for suspension?

I hate to be "that guy", but there wasn't an 84 CRX HF; it was the 1300. The HF didn't start until 85 and used a 1.5 engine. Just sayin'.

I like that front lip the car used to have. I would have never thought of using a cut inverted bumper. Did you just attach it with the existing holes for the factory lip? Was it pretty secure?

Plans for the Straman?

I painted the whol car with "Plasti dip". I used an HVLP sprayer I purchased from dipyourcar.com. I use one gallon of gun metal gray 3 gallons of white and 1 quart of pearl. I am very happy with the results. Next time I spray plasti dip I will try to shoot it with a smoother finish. The product only cost me about 200 dollars. Some of the main benifits of plasti dit is you can allways peal it off and it is compleatly reversable. You can also allways shoot another color on top.

I will post up many more photos the next few days so you can see how the "paint job" came out.

The duble bumper lip worked perfectly the hole patter matched up so I just screwd them togeather with speed nuts and it was very sturdy. Originally I filled the lower grill in with aluminum but eventualy I made a scoop that feed the radiator with 1/8 inch black plastic. I will have to hunt thru old photos to see if I have any of the most recent revision of this bumper mod.

The straman will be a resto mod build. I bought a top for it from Doug "Wolfcrx" and regesterd it here in AZ before giveing it to my father. He is also building a 85 SI CRX.

Here is my favorite version of the "double bumper" mod. I trimmed all of the grill slats off except for the bottom one. I bonded I sheet of 1/8" plastic to the slat and bolted it to the bottom of the core support. The bumper was very sturdy and worked extremely well. Sorry I don't have any better photos of it but this was 7 years ago.

I took the CRX out on the road with my wife and snapped some pictures.

Beautiful car; I'm loving the white on white.  Do you know what width and offset your wheels and tires are?  15"x6.5" +42 wheels and 205/50/15 tires?  I'd like to run 15" wheels with 205 tires, but I don't know what the limits are as far as offsets and wheel widths.

My offset is +45, you can go as low as +35 depending on the width. My tire size is a 195 50 15. I had 205s and they were fine, I think you could to 215s with I proper wheel size. If you want to do a lower offset see about buying or renting a fender roller.
