wow, lots of informative posts in this thread.
Personally all of my Ford experiences have been great.
My 95 Escort had 182K on the ODO when I sold it, with no major problems, EVER.
Imports IMO are overrated, and have inflated reliability ratings since the owners tend to keep better care of them. Every car company builds pieces of shit. Toyota 3L engines are garbage, and so are Honda 6cyl transmissions.
If you want a new Fusion, the only reason I would hesitate is that it is a first year car. Every 1st year car has bugs. Wait for the 07 model.
overrated? when reading your "drives" i happen to notice that 3 of your 4 cars listed are imports.
i also disagree with the reliability due to taking better care of them statement. my 93 accord has the worst preventative maintenance history ever. i do absolutely nothing to that car except beat the hell out of it. oil changes every 10,000 miles when the car is lucky. this car has 228,000 miles on it and probably sees harder driving conditions than most race only cars. i have never had a major problem with the car. i changed the water pump, timing belt and balance shaft belt last summer if that counts.
it's a plain and simple fact that honda and toyota make a better automobile for the most part. check the ratings and sales. do your homework before making a purchase and chances are you will find that a ford isnt such a great buy, but at least it isnt as bad as a GM.....
i haul new cars for a living so i get to drive pretty much every car on the market and i can say that honda, toyota and hyundai seem to have the most solid cars on the market.
no complaints of any of the honda product's.
toyota, they should be ashamed of thier scion product's due to wind noise, road noise, engine noise, suck ass ride and so on.
as for hyundai, drive the new V6 sonata that is made in alabama, thats a comfy car with more power than you need for street driving.
as for the GM's, your lucky if they start when you pick them up to load them onto the truck and when they do start on thier own will they have to sit for 5 minutes to "warm up" before it runs well enough to drive. i have completely nothing good to say about ANY GM product.
as for ford's, well the mustang is somewhat fun i guess......
chrysler, well at least it isnt a GM.
volvo, they stink so damn bad i have to hold my breath when driving them. nice power and decently quick boost.
mitsubishi, see chrysler (except evo's, thats just fun

)
subaru, see GM
suzuki, what can i say, it's GM daewoo corporation, stamped right on thier firewall (which is very visible when trying to get them started with the hood up all the time)
volkswagen, they stink almost as bad as volvo's and drive like ass. not too bad in power...for a girl
kia, feels like a cheaper model hyundai...because it is
mercedes benz, nice power, nice ride, gotta love harmon kardon stereo systems and supercharged V8's, too many buttons and electrical shit
any others you want me to review since i drive them every day? any others you want me to go into more detail about?
