u guys im not really sure if i want to keep driving my '87 crx si. a lot of stuff is breaking down like my transmission is slowly getting really bad. just recently i broke my throw out bearing on my clutch. to fix this car is going to cost a lot of money. i was thinkin of just getting sumthin newer like a 92-2000 civic coupe/hatch, 240sx, or something like that.

Where are you at? Location.

Keep the rex by the way. Once you get these things mint they last forever. Think about it...that bearing and clutch prolly was in there for 200 000 km before fucking up. Once you get a new one, it will last that much longer.

Cheap, Reliable, and Fast.
Now the down side. You only get to pick 2...

I don't know where in Cali you are from, but in S. Cali there are a lot of Ecology Auto Parts around that offer cheap trannies....just get some grungy clothes and your tools and spend a few hour yanking one out....I've found lots of stuff there all the time...

Hell man, my '85 CRX Si has 357,423 miles on it, ALL ORIGANAL!
Im just now replacing the stock EW3 (which leaks oil around the head, and burns oil quite perfusely sad.gif ) for another EW3 that I bought for $250. Other than that (and the broken sun roof track), everything is in damn good shape, and the previous owner (my mother...) put that little sucker through compleate hell! Im talking about shifting at 6,500-7,500 RPM's, while speed shifting!!! Now what does that tell you about the quality of Honda's!!!

Suck my SOHC!

I say get the Civic or 240. If you want to be like everyone else. Most of the Civic and 240 owners do motor swaps too. So, if you got bit by the bug, you'd spend there too.

CRX Si-You have
ZC/D16A1 $400-600
Tranny/axles/brakes-$300-400
Greddy turbo kit- $1450.00
A hot little not so common giant killer.

240SX-Redtop SR20DET $1400-$1600
SR20 rear drive tranny-$800-1000
Cost of the 240SX, only going ridiculously high since the drifting craze.
A fairly common car with a big aluminum wing.

92-00 Civic -nice, but soooooo common. Still a Honda, ton of aftermarket support, reliable, good looking, but not a CRX, sorry.
