Woke up 3-4 weeks ago with what I thought was a stiff neck. Days later my left arm started to hurt and my left hand went tingly. Saw my doctor and he sent me for an EMG and x-rays. EMG showed no nerve damage or carpal tunnel, but the x-ray showed a possible impingement in the c3,c4 and c6,c7 vertebrae. He put me on pain meds which reeally don't work, just make me drowsy and nausious. Went to have some accupressure done by an old friend which did nothing. Follow up with the doctor yielded me an MRI, which results have not come back yet. Pain has gotten worse and I left work early last night (for the first time). I am now waiting for the doctor to call me back and get me out of work and expedite those MRI results. He's also talking about cortizone shots or possible surgery. This whole spine thing really scares me, and the sarge doesn't scare easily.
Anyway, the reason for this post was to let you guys know that I haven't been working on Liz, but I have been online and taking care of the calendars. So if you see a delay in calendar delivery it's because of this. I don't know at this point if I'll be totally out of commission, in the hospital or what. Rest assured that you will get your calendars one way or another. Sarge won't let you down.

Quick update:
Spoke to the doc a little while ago and there is a blurry spot on the MRI indicating possible arthritis in the c5,c6 and c6,c7; he also mentioned something about stenosis? (whatever that is) He also mentioned a possible cyst at the base of the brain. He wants me to get a more localized MRI to be sure.
<starting to get worried

Stenosis means narrowing, like carbon deposits in your exhaust. Worried is probably appropriate - nothing you've mentioned is beyond the capability of a really decent neurosurgeon, but neither is anything you mentioned really going to be helped with a pill so it's kind of out of your regular doctor's field of expertise.
I advise you as a friend (and specifically NOT as anyone who knows anything about medicine) to request a referral to a specialist (ortho, neurosurg) sooner rather than later, because these things don't get better on their own. Also, suggest that a repeat MRI might not be as helpful as a CAT scan - same technology but with a computer to calculate the terrain.

I can relate to the arthritis thing but definately get the second and third opinion so as to know exactly what ails you and how to make it better. Watch out for those funny robes that tie in the back
I put the FUN in dysfunctional!
Just tell her you are fixing it for someone and it is not yours and when they never show up to pick it up tell her you are keeping it for all of the work you put into it.

Don't be scared. Get your body fixed like when you fix the rust on your car. Living the rest of your life in pain is the thing to be scared of.
Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.
WTB: 14x8 or 9" Panasports or Watanabe RS.
WTB: 3g Civic hatch gauge cowl, brown.

I stated that was it, in another thread...I'm glad you had the MRI done. I disagree with the CT scan, as a Tomography only bests the MRI in BONE imaging.I would say the next MRI they will do a Cervical Discogram in which dye is injected into the veins to help with contrast.
Injections may help, but they SUCK (you feel like shit afterwards and will need a driver to & from procedure). It also does WONDERS for skin conditions such as Eczema etc..LOL..
As stated Stenosis is narrowing of the spinal canal, congenital in most cases.
I would definitely try the Injections cycles first . The cervical fusion Surgery is BRUTAL, I have seen it done.. I must say though, it is a very successful procedure....Just BRUTAL to watch.
Keep us posted on the MRI report. GET WELL ALSO.

*shrug*
RareCRX is speaking as a medical expert, I'm not - I'll defer to his opinion. I work for doctors, not with them - the distinction is fine but important.
I'll also second the get well soon idea, for sure!

Having a contrast MRI (Gadalidium?) done of the brain on the 4th. After that I see a pain specialist to decide what's next.

Pain specialist appointment on December 7th, he will decide the course of action. Right now I am out of work probably through the holidays. Been spending most of my time in bed watching TV. Pain meds make me drowsy. Can't drink beer on these meds.
