It says, and I'll paraphrase:
"Silly kids on the internet, they think this is about a new CRX, but really we are just making fun of them. Watch them drool over these drawings that we just made up! Ha ha. They may have won the war..."

After reading all 6 pages of this thread, I couldn't help but notice that nobody commented about how the article on page 1 states that the next car to get the CRX badge is to be a COUPE!!!! That's right, a seats 4 (or 5) 2-door with a trunk!! Just like when they brought back the Si in 99 but only put it in a heavy coupe.
But then, the same article says that the CRX badge was being used until 1997 (was Europe / Japan still getting the Del Sol in 96/97?)
Reading through this thread leaves me pondering another question:
Why not take an Insight and put a K or B series engine in it and make your own "CRX" ? I'm sure the EPA wouldn't be too happy with you "ruining" a low-emissions vehicle but is there a law against it?

Didn't the "C" in CRX stand for coupe anyways?............ I'm pretty sure it Coupe Renissance Model-X...........
EDIT: Some car companies refer to hatchback's as coupe's too.......just 2/3 door coupe...........

Hmmm, I've allways heard of coupes being refered to as 2- door 4- seaters w/ trunks. carry on.

britannica's 2nd definition:
"a 2 door automobile often seating only two persons"
according to the definition, a coupe could be a four seater too.

FYI guys, the US spec Elise is 1975 pounds.

Back on topic...
There is no way a full bodied car is going to weigh less than 2500 pounds anymore. The public just won't buy it. One of the lightest cars full-bodied on the road today is the Celica GT and it weighs roughly 2300 pounds. Honda isn't about to sacrifice quality or safety to make some enthusiasts happy.
So settle for the fact that if the CRX happens it's going to be over 2500 pounds, have power windows, locks and A/C standard.
Options and luxury drive the market, and Honda is in the business of selling cars, not making a few enthusiasts happy.
OTOH, if it comes with the 200 Hp RSX engine as an option, and double wishbone suspension ...that would be pretty awesome!
It would make a great daily driver.

Well, A/C can be taken out...
Power steering too.
Power windows & locks might be harder.
I actually really like the look of the Celica
Oh, BTW Ghost-one, LOL on the beach thing!

MINI!
Just say BOOO to a 3000 lb crx the size of a neon no matter
what engine they put in it.
As for the engine question, not sure everywhere, but in NC
you are technically legally only allowed to change an
engine with a comparable engine that could have come
from the factory.
An example is like replacing your corvette 350 w a
427 (or whatever I don't know exactly but you get the idea).
Putting a B18 in a 1G is definately not allowed.
There is some question in my mind with the europe
and jap models of our cars getting the integra engines, b16 or
whatever would be the equal,
would that be legal since technically it could have come
from the factory like that.
Although I don't think anybody is looking hard at it as long
as your engine light is not on and you pass emissions.
