Studs are off the block, although I'd till need to get the dowels off the bottom of the head. I would start building thread, but I don't have enough time to take pics.
I plan to freshen the head, and Cameron is going to help me do I light port on the intake side. I still need to figure out how to p&p the intake and plenum.
Some sort of camshaft would be nice.

Stock valvetrain?

pretty much, unless you've got a better obtainable option?

Looks like S2000 springs are the way to go now. I know DX outer and SI inner worked but finding new stuff is impossible.

I am very interested in the Colt cam's after looking at the profiles.

Stock valve train?  What kind of revs?

I doubt it will see the track that much... auto-x pad, track day on occasion... so rare it will ever see the plus side of 7000.  I would like more low end umph for around town and cones.  BTW, pistons are in and i'm hauling the block to the machine shop shortly.

S2000 springs and retainers?  What's the advantage?  I see them in the $3-800 range, with some lesser priced options.

I am not sure and I will bet Kirk gives us a good answer. I am stuck with cam choice. I am not concerned to much with how much hp. I want the car to have more of a rally grind with good power every where in the revs. If I am not mistaken I would want more duration over lift? The reason for changing valve springs is to keep the valves from floating. If the seat pressure is not high enough with a high lift at high rpm the valve could skip never closing and could hit the piston.

I have a cam from my SIR days in GTL that would probably be optimal for this type of use - I will have to see if I can find the grind #s for it.  I wonder if we could get a grinder to copy it?  Other than that, Geoff @ Colt Cams makes a great HP grind that I have used before.

Also, let me search about on this site for a post I did some time ago....seems as though I found a set of springs from the BMC motors that were in one of my heads, but I don't remember the MFR right now.  I also have about 200 valve springs at home that will have a mix of DX & Si springs in the box... :)

hoop - I wish you lived closer, I would give you everything that I have that is EW related (or anyone else for that matter)... I have an ITB motor that was running when pulled, a 1.3L GT5 motor that was running when pulled and so many spares bits and pieces it would take a weekend of sorting to go through it all.  I tried to give away the motors on this site a couple of years ago (for shipping alone) and there were not takers...GRRRRR...

Are you looking for the pipe that has the fitting for the oil/water interchange plate or the one without?

Ruck, the connecting pipe is the one that goes from the water pump to the thermostat housing, with an o ring on each side. And yes, I know you have a lot of stuff.

Building one is fun, I just want to go about it a little different from my legal ITB days. Hence a cam grind and the questions about springs.

I sold Foley my ITB car and bought a 1.6 SM, now ITA ride. Wish I had kept the old car, the meeyachter has been the devil to me.

Iskederian Raing Cams - 323.770.0930. The valve spring is for a Austin/Healey BMC "C" Type head - their part number 906 AM. You will need to make an aluminum shim that fits between the head and valve spring to get the appropriate seat pressure, but at 90 pound seat pressure you can run cams with over 0.600" lift and not get coil bind - we run about 0.500" lift and have never had a spring related failure or the springs lose their strength over several years of racing.

...finally found it here...

Kirk I would be very interested in the engines if you have them. I am sure I could talk my buddy into going for a drive lol.  Or if you could give me a idea on shipping or money. Do you have any transmissions? I have a caged 86 SI chassis that just needs a knee bar put in. Still trying to get my other friend to let go of the 74 GT5 car.  Anyway let me know.

Zack - you would need a pickup truck and an empty bed...I did find a core PE3 head in my garage today as well.  The bulk of the stuff is at my brother's house in La Grange, TX!

So the EW rod bolts have been back ordered and won't ship till the end of march. Which gives me time to decide about the head.

Ask Jay Griffin - he should have a set of rods with them already installed and sized - they haven't been used yet
