I have a 87 crx si I bought and it won't run but on starting fluid I'm new to the crx style cars I've checked everything on the car fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail, and fuel filter. I for some reason have no light on my ecu and have no power to it but it does work

You need a main relay.

In fact, I rock out an RPR decal!

If you are not getting power to the injectors or to the fuel pump, check you main relay as that is one of its primary functions (to send power to those two items).

Check the manual on the "service manual" section on this website and locate the main relay.

All the best and let us know what happened.

Cheers

I've had the main relay checked and it is functional

when you turn the key to the ON position, do you hear the pump priming for 2 seconds?

I have to hot wire the fuel pump but it keeps priming and doesn't stop or build pressure

If you hot wire the pump, it will run continuously.  The on/off function of the pump is controlled by the ecu .  If the pump is running, it should build pressure against the pressure regulator.  If it is a pressure issue, then check your regulator.

Sure sounds like the main relay though.  You say it has been checked but can you hear it clicking under the dash?  I had a sticky main relay that worked sometimes and didn't other times.  The fact that you don't have either +12V (or a good ground) at the pump tells me its an electrical problem.

Check the basics first....

Check the IGN1 fuse, 10A main fuse box

Check the main relay fuse, 15A auxillary fuse box

Make sure alll pump connections are good.

Check that you have 12V at the pump when ignition is turned on

Make sure you have good ground at the GND-1 spot (engine wire harness/center engine compartment)  This is just as important as having +12V.

Listen for the relay to click on and click off....you'll see it "operate" on your dash with the pgm-fi light

Listen for the pump to whine when you trun the key to IGN-1 spot.

Main relays are pretty cheap at most parts stores as a heads up.

Let me know what you find out.

If it is clicking your ign-1 fuse is good.

Is the pgm-fi light coming on then off when you turn the key?

Did you check the 15A main relay fuse?  You need that to pull in the contactor to supply 12 V to the pump.

Well the pgm-fi lite on the dash is controlled by the ECU...and the ECU allows ground to close the relay that powers the pump......so you either have a ground problem (ECU not grounded or pump not grounded) or the ecu is toast.  I could be wrong but that is what I'd chase next.

Has anyone monkeyed with the car or harnesses before?  Have you found cut places in the harness?

Tim

It had a field sfc hyper r fuel management system in it the ecu comes on in a buddy's car with the same obd0 pin out and the light flashes then shuts off guess like it's suppose to do the ecu is out off a Integra d16a1 the car was tuned to it cause of the upgrades in it so I'm kinda confused I didn't pay much for the car 200 dollars to be exact so I'm not in that deep

I'd pull the fuel return line off the fuel pressure regulator - connect another longer fuel hose so you can pump fuel into a container you can measure / inspect.  My guess is the pump is not supplying enough volume/pressure.  Probably caused by a rusty fuel tank.
