So for the first time since I owned a 1G (2005) my car has packed it in. As in it didn't get me home.
It's minor, an electrical fault. I think the induction pickups in the distributor are done for. Car has no spark and is sitting at the GFs house, she lent me her car to get home and to work tomorrow.
Plan is to got to the yard on Saturday and scavenge a distributor, a coil, and possibly some misc wires.
I'm pretty sure it's the distributor from my prodding with a multimeter, but without more expensive tools or more time I couldn't narrow it 100%.
On the bright side, it may not have got me home, but it didn't leave me stranded on a roadside either. Got me to a safe haven and then said, "no more."
Should have it going again Saturday.

Glad to know you weren't stranded on the highway in the middle of nowhere.
Good luck on getting it back on the road!

5 reasons cars are better than women
5) You can rub and wax a car in your driveway and not get arrested
4) Car's don't get mad at you for no reason every 28 days
3) You can't put a bumper sticker that says "How's my driving? Dial 1-800- EAT-S*IT!" on a woman.
2) You can sell your car to a complete stranger and nobody will get mad at you
1) Women can't go 200 miles per hour.

hey heads up there are about 6 of our years of hondas in the chilliwack pap. for parts.
There were only 3, 2 had pulled engines. >_< Looked like they were cleaning out rows, maybe more will come in.
I ended up leaving with a distributor cap and a coil from an 87 accord (same as an alternate 1/3g coil)
I did manage to find a distributor at a local yard but had to pay 3 times what I'd have payed at pick-a-part.
Car started easier than it has in a LONG time, and timing was well retarded. After it warmed up and I took off the choke it was idling at/below the 500rpm mark... Not that I'd leave it there for normal use, but it was funny to see that it could do that. I "set" the timing by advancing it till my idle was about the same as it was on the old dizzy.
I do notice a difference in how the engine is running. It's faint but smoother. Also my tach isn't jumping as much as it did before. I haven't played with it much yet, but I think I can lean my mix out more on this distributor/coil combo. We'll see later, but for now the car is happy again.
