I bought this battery from heel-toe.

I have a short or something somewhere now too. Ever since it got cold I have to unhook my battery or it will die in between drives. I drive it once a week or so. The blower fan also doesn't work anymore. Coincidence? My guess is that a mouse got up there and chewed thru something. It's too cold to go investigate mad.gif

Quick question:

Where are the best places to buy the heat shrink tubing and black mesh sleaving that I see folks using LOCALLY? Anywhere that usually will carry this stuff in bulk at good prices?

If not, where is the best place on the web to order from?

Much rather get it locally and save on the shipping though...

Wiretuck: HARD MODE

Wire (and vacuum line) truck an '87 CRX HF -high altitude-, and you must retain the factory emissions systems.

The bolts are hex head M6x12-16mm (either size is fine) with #12 washers. Make sure and get stainless bolts like E-AT86 as the zinc type ones will rust. Fastenal had these in chrome and they looked amazing! But they were like $2 each. Fastenal kept them.

To answer your loom questions - I got the cheap corrugated stuff from home depot. I got the shrink wrap there too. Both were probably over priced. And there are much better looking ways to do it. I just wanted it sooner and bought local. Read the H-T thread for online stores with the supplies. Who knows, maybe one will be local.

IMPORTANT QUESTION:

OK, worked all morning and got the fenders, bumper, headlights off.

I gutted the interior yesterday, so the dash is out and everything. Napa has shrink wrap, good to know about Home Depot. So, ready to DO THIS!!

However, when I look at the drivers side fender to the firewall, I don't see ANY hole that enters the interior of the car to pass wires through. Am I missing something here?

Is appears as if I'm going to need to drill/route a hole in the frame somewhere. I, obviously, want to avoid this, for many reasons. However, how am I going to run the headlight and washer wiring down the left side of the car? I suppose I could go to the passenger side, all the way accross the car along the washer trowel to the drivers side, and THEN through the fender and out by the headlights. However, this seems a bit overly-extravagant, ya know?

Please advise. Thanks!

i drilled holes into where would be under the fenders, and ran all my wires behind the fenders.

then the head light wires wires and such come out through the open small area where the header panel secures.

(kinda hard to explain, i will have to take detailed pics for you tomorrow to show you what i mean)

yet i foolishly didnt take into consideration the holes i drilled; WILL TAKE ON WATER in a car washing !!!! which led to another post i made shorting out my ecu, and hydro-locking my motor with FUEL!. so needless to say after you drill the holes to run all your wires; make sure you SEAL THEM. i am going to use some of that foam stuff when i get me car home in a day or so.

OUCH! Is this what caused the snapping of your belt?!

Thanks for the info...This was what I suspected. I'll definitely be sealing. Also, making sure I don't drill through the fuel lines behind the firewall! Benn there, done that!

I didn't drill any new holes ... let me go look and see what I did.

I used the hole that the speaker wire came out of. No drilling at all. Here are some pics:

no the snapping of my belt is just another episode in my saga. . . .

i had to lose my blower motor in the process of drilling the hole in the center lower part of the firewall. no worries here though.

OK, progress has been made, and I promised to update with lots of pics:

Today, I got the all of the wiring out of the bay, and took out the radiator, fluid bottles, and all of the extraneous brackets and clips. Here's where she is now. I am really hoping that the final product to look this "vacant" (with the addition of the induction system, or course!)

I'm really not liking this section of the bay right now. It's a clustered mess. I want to take out this filter and run SS line and -AN fittings. The return line is an easy swap, as I can just use a fake -AN hose look-a-like on the firewall, and where it meets the intake manifold. However, the banjo bolt on the other line is going to be tricky. Do they make banjo bolts to -AN connectors? If so, anyone no what size I will need to connect to the intake manifold? Also, once I remove the OEM line, how will I connect there? Or do I have to leave this stock? I really want to do an Earls in-line filter/-An set-up like I had in the wagovan last year. Will this be possible?

And what can I do about the charcoal canister? Maybe I could mount it lower?! Wiper motor, I may just have to deal with, as I will need my wipers on this daily. Wish it could go to. Oh well...

Still debating on the battery. I could get a $25 lawn motor battery at Wal-Mart, super small and light, and mount it in the bay down low. Or crank out $125 for a proper sealed unit for the interior. Hmmmm......

Thanks for all of the advise guys!

I'm painting the bay first of the week, and will begin soldering/stripping/extending/organizing right after that is done!

Peace,
Dan T.
