If you need to stay in a hotel, don't call the hotels in Carlisle directly. They have the car shows schedule and jack up the prices for those weekends. If you go to the hotel chain's website and use the national call center number for whichever hotel you want, you'll get the normal going rate for a room based on what the national hotel chain thinks it should be. for example, the Econo lodge for the 2009 show wants $135 a night when you call the front desk. This is crazy becasue its a Econo lodge! The national call center is quoting the same room for $75 a night. They are forced to honor it by federal sanctions. Once you book either online or through the call center, it is a legally binding contract stating that you reserved that room for that rate. The only person that can break that contract is you by cancelling your reservation. Also, since the hotels are all independently owned and operated chains (a franchise) that is how they get away with jacking the price up when you call them directly. If you book online or by phone through the reservation centers, you are guarenteed the natinoal price.
See you there!
