iv'e had my 86 crx for about 2 years now and im graduating school soon...so i will have time and more money to bring the car to my expectations. i want to build the car for time trails but also keep it looking fairly nice.
my question is i plan on doing a b18 swap but my car is a hf. people keep saying i cant do it because my car is carb'd . just curious of what type of situation im getting myself into

well, in my opinion, and im pretty suresomeone will agree, once u take that carb engine out ur car will be fuel injected with the B18 swap. it wont be easy cus the engine comparrtment is really small. but its doable.

NOOOOOOOOO!!! Dont swap the HF!!
The big weight savings in the HF are the engine and brakes, if you are planning on swapping those out you might as well find an Si or a DX.
If you DO destroy such an amazing fuel miser, can I have your engine/trans/anything you pull off?
How well does the HF run, do you have pictures?

The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

mine is also an hf b18
i get the best of both worlds 30 mph adv and PLENTY of power
there are two questions you must ask yourself before you do this
how are you with electrical?
how difficult will it be for you at you're location to collect the parts?
i say do what you want because in the end it is you're car and you will be the one putting the work into it

look for the si harness first, if you cant find one, id say forget the project, it isnt worth it... if you do find an si harness look to find either an si tank, or just the pickup out of the tank... if you find the tank, see if you cant get an si return line... if not oh well, you can make one out of 3/8 tubing a pipe bender, a flare tool, some compression fittings and some plumbers (acid core) solder... for a nearly complete parts list go to onegvtec.com.... i pulled a manual swap into an 87 crx dx automatic, and its my daily driver now nearing 15k on the swap.. crxls' setup on stock lines is with a b&m fpr and i forget what pump he used if you wanna go that rout

I have a pretty well mapped out wiring conversion build (that should have been done a long time ago if not for my hectic summer) that I might repost as a HOW TO thread. I also have been considering making and selling (95%) plug and play FI conversion harnesses depending on interest... hands off rywire!
what do you mean by nice? if you aren't worried about your misc functions like A/C you might just want to swap the entire car's harness to an integra or something

I was thing the same thing, its def. do able. You just have to be willing to take on the work its going to require. Granted starting off with a si crx would be easier but that takes all the damn fun out of it!! Do it do it !! Good luck
