IMO its the difference in a D16A1 and a B18C5, or a McDonalds Burger and Filet Mignon. The illumina's are great, i love mine and there customer service is amazing, but id probably slap mine and your mother for a set of Koni Yellows.

i'm pretty sure they won't make them for you as it would be way to expensive to even consider getting a group buy. your best bet is to find some used ones and send them in to get rebuilt. that's what i did. i love my konis. they can handle higher spring rates than the tokicos. i went from tokicos to konis, and it is a world of difference.
plus, i've got this on my car:

The rebuild option, supports higher spring rates and IIRC shorter body are the things in the Koni's favor.

I have both kinds and have used both on the street and on the track. Both are good. I am using the Koni's right now. I like the Illuminas better. The Illuminas ride harder, but either I am doing something wrong, or my front Koni's are too soft on the compression stroke. I have yet to figure them out. Maybe with a stiffer torsion bar, I suppose. The Illuminas are easier to adjust. The rear Koni's have some wierd ass way of adjustment that makes you take of the shock first. My understanding is that the Koni's take higher springs rates before blowing up. That would be the only thing going for them, IMO.

No, I bought a used set without the knob. I can still adjust them with a pliers. But like I said, the adjustment is not that user friendly.
