$400-500 is going rate for Rota's, there about the cheepest new set of wheels you can get. That look good, American Racing and shit that pepboys sells are cheeper sometimes.

I realy dont care that Rota is knocking off the CF48, i love the wheel, and now i can actualy afford a set. And now they will be 15x7's. And if they are realy smart they will make the AeroCovers fit the old mugens, that should increase there sales tremendously. Im sure people will pay $500 for some Covers and just sell off the bare wheels.

Mugens are great and they wont loose any value, Because at the end of the day, You still have Mugens, and somebody else has Rota's. Id love a set of real mugens, be it CF's, MR's MF's any of em. But i wouldnt want to daily drive them or put them on a car thats parked outside because of thieft. So why not pay 2-3times less and get a wheel that looks almost exactly the same, weighs less than 1lbs more, And if you slam them into a curb, bend one going off track, or they get stolen your only out $500 thats replaceable, insted of $1500 thats not.

our beloved sacred CF-48's are being re-made. good for those that want them! bad for people who thought they were original.. someone already called my Black Racing's Rotas and i already had to set them straight. now, everyone will be thinking i have rotas again and i'll have to basically punch them in the face... but i may get a set for track.. smile.gif

they look like crap with a plain aero cover.....

duner<---wishing i still had these ones

Hmm, well maybe they'll bring them out in 15x7. Mugen always made their wheels too narrow!

FWIW, I have no problem w/ Rota bringing back all the sweet old school wheels.

Most of the wheels where slightly larger than the stock wheels Honda put on the cars originally for obvious reasons. The CF48's were however made in a race version with a lower offset and larger width. These can be seen on the Mugen SCCA race car from the mid 80's. They definatly are not normal CF's.

hey hey, want me to kick your butt! i love the white.

Okay, maybe ugly was not the right word. My point was that the cover looks really plain without the stickers and machined finish IMO.

it'd be nice to get some genuine Mugen one's but i think these would be a nice compliment to the Panda look i was going for... might pick these up depending on their popularity... won't get them if everyone and their grandmother gets them though... and yes i know i've talked about owning slipstreams... but there's a story behind that that i'm sure no one cares to hear about anyway... my cousin owed me is pretty much it in a nutshell....

i like them ! and i once owned a genuine set of mugen mr-5 wheels.. i thing the whole JDM hype kills the prices and makes all this stuff much to expensive.

how much those set you back in australian? and i think here in aus we will be able to get rota copies unsure.gif

i picked them up for scrap price from a wrecker i paid NZ$80 that is cheap and i will never find a price that good on any others i dont think.

here in NZ i dont think i will ever see anyone cool enough to rock CF-48s copied or genuine on thier car, unless the car came with them from japan and they have no idea what they are nor care about what they are worth.

WHOA! just noticed something very odd.... those cf-48's only have 8 contact points to the outside of the wheel... where as all of the other pictured ones have 10... anyone else notice that?

laugh.gif

yeah its because its only a 13inch 14s and 15s have 10
the difference visually between the 14s and 15s is the 14s bolt holes for the aero covers is between the studs but on the 15s it is closer to being in line with the stud holes if someone will post 15s

i found that quite cool when i first noticed...
