I get home today from the junkyard and get on the computer a bit. Then I go back downstairs to mess with the rex a little bit. About two hours later come back to get on the computer and my norton antiirus is letting me know that it has detected and deleted a virus call Backdoor Trojan......??? So I say ok and try to log on to my computer but it wouldnt do anything so i restarted it....when it restarted it was opening windows like crazy .....i mean like hundreds of them...Something about your email balah blah blah....can not be sent to balh blah.... Wtf is this? I ran the recovery and it worked and I didnt lose any files. It seems to be running ok but where do these viruses come from? Y do ppl make them and do they not have anything better to do than this??

My computers at home majorly crashed on me Friday night. I turn it on and a blue screen blinks on then it restarts ... and just keeps looping like that. I don't know wtf is going on, but hopefully I can get it figured out soon. I think it's overheating, or maybe a bad power supply.

You are FUNKED UP.. you need to reinstall windows!! consider it all gone.. what no back-up disk made??? tsk tsk..
mine did the EXACT same thing I caught a bad virus (i was lacking virus protection..) usually happens when you have a bootleg copy of windows.
I went out and bought a new windows disc and its been all good ever since..

BLUE SCREEN???? WTF???? If you got a blue screen then follow either of these that apply:
1) GET RID OF WINDOWS 98!!!! It sucks and is the least stable windows version.
or
2) If you can get to them, save all your needed files. Evven if you can't get to them, you'll never see them again with this virus, so do this: Go to your bios and find the staaartup configuration. It should say something like "boot with: hard disk, cd rom, floppy..." or something like that, move the cd rom one to the top of the list. Then get yourself a Windows XP disc (OEM Preferably) and start that up and follow the directions, it should be pretty easy...

I've got Windows XP Home Edition. As soon as the boot screen comes up (say WinXP with the bar at the bottom loading) it's on for 1 sec then blinks a blue screen for about 1/2 a second then restarts.
I'm gonna try and get my future-brother-in-law's buddy to look at it; he fixed my old computer and my printer.

Sounds like your hard drive might be damaged... Same thing happened to my old HP-iece of crap(as I liked to call it.) I bet it was from me punching and kicking the damn thing so much...
Anydangway, go ahead and put $50 into a good 100 GB hard drive. Install it in the computer, load up the Windows disc, and you should be good in about 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on your computer's speed.

The factory hard drive has been squeeling pretty bad for the last couple weeks, so I knew it was going bad, I just didn't think it would cause this. Any way to put the OS on the somewhat-new 250gigger I've got in there if I don't have a Windows install disc (just a recovery disc)???
I'm thinking about getting a new/better power supply than what's in there now. Couldn't hurt, and I'm sure it needs it with all the hardware that's in there.
