I have a 1987 Civic hatchback with a D13a2--Carburated, I want to convert to a D16 DOHC or SOHC Fuel injected or carb. I have a 4-speed tranny currently and i want to update to a 5-speed. Does anyone know what i will have to change i.e. mounts, axles etc.
Any information will help because i still have not taken out the dying D13a2.
I'm a newbie so the simplest conversion would be best, so i could gain some experience.
Thank You, and forgive me for my ignorance.

Any Carburated engine from a 84-87 civic/crx should be a direct swap. Also any 5 speed tranny from a 84-87 will work.

Best thing to do is first read this article to see what is involved with the D16A1 swap: D16A1 Swap... It is a well done article.. Also check out the FAQ section.. Very nice as well..
The other thing you need to consider is if you are going to go FI or not.. Since you live in LA, smog is an issue.. To keep it smog legal you would need to switch to FI when you do the swap.. A donor 86-87 teg will help tons here.. The carb to FI swap has ben covered several times here and the search function works pretty well here.. Good luck..

RIP Block# D16A12011451.. It will be missed..
