the ls and crv blocks do not have oil squirters in the bottom, therefore making them a piss poor choice to rev past the stock limit of ~7200. The reason ls/crv/tec's have a bad history is people slap on a vtec head and try to rev them to the same rpm as the motor the head came off with. The poor lubrication causes these motors to fail, usualy catrosphicly.
so to sum it up, ls vtec is ok if you dont try to push it, but if you do, the motor will not be long for this world (as past rants on most forums go) Dont get me wrong, they can make a good amount of power but there are far better and cheaper choices to make the same power safely.
IE "stroked" b16 with a LS crank, rods, and pistons (but i'd go aftermarket rods and pistons)
its the same thing as a LS/vtec but better built to handle high revs due to the oil squirters.
