I lowered the front struts in the knuckles over the weekend. Looks like I gained 1/2 to 5/8 of strut travel. We'll see if that helps, because listening to GtPilot's description of mid corner push, I think I may have had it.

A simple method of detecting how much shock travel you are using is to put a small tywrap around the shock rod and slide it all the way down. Make your run and then check how far the tywrap got pushed up.

Hey Greg. Was my RR wheel off the ground coming out of turn 1 yesterday?
FYI the car was handling great and i'm glad i, made the changes i did. Let me know who had brembo rotors in stock. Those ones i have are shot.

No you weren't lifting a wheel. You and Bill both looked pretty flat. The new 29mm's must be working okay. The only guys who really had a wheel in the air in your group were the two guys from Ohio in the GTI's and the faster of the two set a track record. Sounded like you were using 3rd gear. If you can crank up your cajones, 4th gear is faster. I used to use 4th in the ITC car, but that was with 186/60-13 tires which might be a little bit shorter than your 14's. 4th gear is spooky cause you have zero power to get you out of trouble but as long as you see 4700 on the tach or more, you are faster. If you want it, I can e-mail you my Excel spreadsheet that shows the speed in gears with different tire diameters.
Tire Rack had the rotors listed in stock.

Let me know if you're going to order a set soon. I might go in on an order with you to save shipping.

Greg,
Check your e-mail when you get home. I kind of gave you the short story of impound, race, etc.

Yes.....that the only way to get thru turn 1 in 4th gear in an IT car with stock gearing & tall DOT tire is to really scare the crap out of yourself once per lap.
FWIW - it's marginally better in the prodcar with short slicks. I'm turning 5400 thru there with the shorter slicks.....so at least the engine makes more noise to cover up my screaming in the car

I would do a avatar if i knew how. I was seeing about 6200 rpm on the exit at one in third gear. The car will still pull up to about 6700 rpm. I tried 4th gear at the Susie race and the car was a dog going into 3. Maybe i was not carrying enough speed through one at that race. I'll give it a try next time ( next year )
unless i run the NASA race at Road America. Shoot that spread sheet to my e-mail at home.
The kink on the first lap got my attention as i almost slid off the outside going through at full tilt. The car is so much better with the 29mm bars in it. I did not want to make a ton of changes at the track this weekend due to all the changes i made before the race. I did stiffen the rear sway bar up for sunday by 1" and it seemed to help. Bill & I are pretty much testing for next year. I'll let the cat of the bag for that one when it becomes official in two weeks.

So, we're going to set up a camera in your car @ M-O this year for the first time you go through turn one flat!
This, of course, is only good if you DON"T lift before you turn in .
I swear Kirk told me it can be done. 'I' haven't done it yet, but I fibbed to him a little after my final qualifying last year an said I think I did Actually I just breathed it a bit .

I have never done MO's turn 1 flat in practice or qualifying, but I have found some motivation during the race. Last year I did it one lap during the race trying to keep the blue MGB behind me after I passed him and a 510 in turn 15.....
I know the car is capable.....it's the driver that is the weak link

Tom,
Thanks for the help on the avatar. It looks great!
Greg, thanks for the spread sheet. I'll plug in the numbers and see where we are.
