Picked up a stone crack on a recent road trip from dallas to austin. called my regular, small, independent guy. says he cant get them. suggests the local safelite shop. no go.

satellite said try pilkington classics. pilkington said i need account, wont look up stock.... said to try american glass

american glass..... dont have in inventory, said try migrant glass.

migrant glass. bingo! corporate said they have them. 6 in tx, ok,ak area. wo account, cant buy. gave me texas area rep. she gave me three dallas independents. called them and got a guy to bulk order me all 6 windshields for $105 ea. he dropped them off last week

no one had the molding kits. my shield was last replaced 15 years ago. all i can ever remember is the 1/2 wide christmas tree version of molding used. i have a 2-3 nos strips in storage, but recalled those to be xmas tree design from honda, so i didnt bother to pull and verify. after searching, i found the molding for the 1987 dodge dakota is identical to what has been used on my cars before. i bought a 100 roll

theres a foam dam between body and glass. well pull the glass and see if it can still be used.

i have 2 nos windshields in stock w 2-3 rubber moldings and at least 1 foam dam. these are earmarked for the concourse, one spare glass just in case.

my new glass guy worked at my local honda dealership in the 80s and 90s, and still does. hes very familiar w this car. simple though. said he hasnt seen one in a long, long time

glass guy said we cleaned out the texas oklahoma and arkansas of crx glass, but several more he could locate in the northern states. good news: still available!!

my problem was the old guy i had been using for glass. he didn’t have an account w migrant. they require min 10 orders a month to keep account.

since migrant corporate is in california, i’m sure west coast glass guys have no problem

I was in Safelite today getting my windshield replaced in my Tacoma.  While I was there I asked if they could still get windshields for the 84-87 CRX and they said yes.  She told me their warehouse in CA had 20 of them in stock.

 

Good news is someone is still making them and Safelite is still stocking them.

Safe lite here in Dallas didn’t have them when I started this post.   Glad you’ve got a solid source!
