#56561 B16a Turbo 85si

Posted by b16a87civic on 13 February 2004 - 03:26 AM in 1G CRX

YES it will fit. i have a 87 civic si hb with a b16 and turbo. i am using a smaller radiator which i think is from a carbed motors. i had a radiator shop put a double row core in it. im also using a fal fan with adjustable thermostat. i have no overheating problems at all. i had to move the radiator a far left a possible to make clearence for the downpipe. im using a drag manifold, i think that a cast one like the drag one is the only ones that would fit. the wastegate i touching the header panel. i will try to get pictues up soon.

#48695 Poll: Are You Looking For Parts?

Posted by b16a87civic on 02 January 2004 - 06:16 PM in General Posts

i voted for the brake kit. not really a big brake kit, i still want to use 13" rims and slicks. i would love it if i could buy everything i need to upgrade my brakes one time and from one place. rear disk brakes, master/booster, pads, lines, everything. theres just too much info its get i confusing.
also a carbon fiber hood for my 87 hatch would be great!!!!!!!!!!

#48687 Turbo Questions?

Posted by b16a87civic on 02 January 2004 - 05:37 PM in 3G Civic

just as a reference i have a 87 civic si with a b16a1 t3/t4 turbo running 8psi......

on ebay i keep seeing people selling 450cc injectors from a eclipse turbo. it says that it works on hondas. do they just plug in? is that a good size for a turboed b16?

my missing link doesnt seem to be working with my 87 si map so im now using 2 check valves. does anyone know of any problems of using a missing link with the 87 si map if so whats my options?

when using a fmu does the stock fuel pressure stay the same or do i put it up? what it stock or what should it be a idle?

whats a good inline fuel pump at a decent price? whats a good size?

thanks........steve

#48006 Turbo Questions?

Posted by b16a87civic on 28 December 2003 - 06:02 PM in 3G Civic

- i just turboed my car and have a few questions? i live in hawaii and because of the time difference and work its hard to call companies to get answers, so any help would be great!!!!

- i keep seeing 450 lb/hr injectors from a dsm on ebay and it says that it will work on a honda motor. will it work on a b16a1? is it a direct replacement? is that size injector good for a b16 running 10 psi? (only running 7psi but would like to up it to 10psi)

- i was using a inline(not on trottlebody) missing link with the stock 87 si map. i guess it worked good a first but then the car started to run like crap, i took off the missing link and used 2 check vlaves and it works perfect now. is the missing link compatable with the 87 si map? if not can i use another on?

- im using a nos fuel pump now but would like to change it. whats a good inline pump?

- im using a zdyne silver computer. does anyone know if zydne would retune for a turbo?

- im using a vortec 12:1 fmu for my fuel management. just wondering if i have to rise the stock fuel pressure when using the fmu? what should the fuel pressure be at idle?

-thanks-steve

#40146 How Fast Are You?

Posted by b16a87civic on 05 November 2003 - 02:35 AM in 1G CRX

12.6 @109 with my 87 hatch. the cars still pretty heavy the only thing i did to cut weight was take out the seats. i was running a b16a with 75 shot nitrous. just put in a t3/t4 turbo, when i took it to the track i broke a axle so got no time. im going to time it again soon.

i have heard that driveshaft shop make a set of 300/500hp axles for my setup, did anyone else hear anything about it also? does anyone have them?

#39292 Some Pics Of A 3g B16a Civic

QUOTE (rjay8604 @ Oct 27 2003, 06:42 PM)
i wonder if i'm the only guy on rpr with a b16a civic hybrid, that would be cool but i'm probably not. lately i just wish my car would pass emissions test, ef9 did you have any problems passing. sometimes i think it could be a wiring problem but i have no codes. and it runs as if it were a low emissions vehicle, my oil is a little above the recommended level.

i have a b16 in my 87 civic. i just put a turbo in it. i have had the b16 swap for almost 5 years now. i got the first kit that hasport ever sold. i dont have to go thru emissions test where i live so i cant help you with that one.

i just put on a turbo on my b16 so yse there is room for it. i dont have a pics yet but ill try to get them up soon. i used a radiator from the 1.3L and had a radiator shop put in a double row core in it, the car doesnt run hot at all. for my kit i used a drag maifold, t3/t4 turbo, deltagate wastegate, blitz blowoff valve, 32x9 front mount intercooler and custom piping. im going to clock it this weekend, i ran 12.6 with nitrous and with the turbo the car feels way stronger.

#30186 Vehicle Speed Sensor

Posted by b16a87civic on 19 July 2003 - 03:58 AM in 3G Civic

if you use a zdyne computer you only need one wire for vtec. you dont need the seed sensor wire. zdyne eliminates the need for all the other sensors for vtec, thats why they call it the one wire transplant computer. you use the stock speedometer cable into the b16 tranny to monitor your speed. even if you are going to make your own mounts you should still look at hasport web site. they were very helpfull when i did my transplant.

#26995 Small 87 Civic Radiator?

Posted by b16a87civic on 22 June 2003 - 05:07 AM in 3G Civic

im putting a turbo in my car and need a smaller radiator. my brother found one from the 84-87 civics thats half the size( about 14") of one from a si but its not in very good shape. i would like to buy a new one but before i do i would like to make sure what model its from. does anyone know if the smaller radiator is able to cool a turbo b16a? thanks-steve

#26404 My Time...very Sad

Posted by b16a87civic on 15 June 2003 - 04:10 AM in 1G CRX

thats not too bad! sounds like you need better traction, try some slicks. with more track time the et's should drop. good luck

#26211 Anyone Drag And Live In So Cal?

Posted by b16a87civic on 13 June 2003 - 12:40 AM in 1G CRX

i drag my 87 civic si, best time to date is 12.6 @ 109. running a b16 and nitrous but now putting together a turbo kit. i wouldn't waste my time going n/a. before my swap i had a bullfrog head package. never got a chance to race it before i blew up the motor. made good power but not even close to the b16. good luck hitting 13's. check out my car @ b16a87civic

#26208 Rear Hatch Rattle

#25626 B16a2 In 1986 Crx Si

Posted by b16a87civic on 07 June 2003 - 05:03 AM in 1G CRX

if you use a zdyne computer you dont have to worry. you use the stock cable into the tranny for the speedo, and the computer turns on the vtec no matter what, it doesnt use all the sensors (speed) to turn it on like the stock computer. and best of all you only need to add the vtec wire to your harness! a one wire transplant! CALL HASPORT!!!! they really know what they are doing when it comes to this swap.

#25625 Turbo/nitrous Or All Motor

Posted by b16a87civic on 07 June 2003 - 04:47 AM in 1G CRX

i have a 87 civic si with a b16 swap and a 75 shot. my best time is 12.6 @ 109. theres more to the car than just that but its show that its possible. its also still very much streetable! expect to spend alot of money the swap isnt cheap. im moving on to a turbo setup very soon, the times should drop more. if you know about turbos i would go with one on a b16 swap. i have pictures at members.cardomain.com/b16a87civic if you would like to take a look. i hope this helps you out.

#25624 Engine Swap Info

Posted by b16a87civic on 07 June 2003 - 04:34 AM in 3G Civic

i have the b16 swap in my 87. it does make i difference if its a si. hasport was very helpfull when i did mine. i did it about 4 years ago so i dont know if anything has changed with hasport. i does cost alot of money. i didnt add up a total but i do know that its more than i expected. its fairly easy to do the swap, no major problems. its alot easier to use the zdyne computer. i have some pictures of my swap at b16a87civic im not to sure if the link will work, sorry if it doesnt.

the shaft is custom but the end cups/joints are from a 86-89 integra and i think other cars are the same. as far as i know raxles make the axles for hasport. i think raxles sell the complete axle for $169 each.
