I don't have a 84-87 civic or crx......But with a g1 teg I think I can relate...........


The bottome line....


I love my car.....

I have always been a fan Of boxed sports cars.....

Plus You Never see one on the road....and people don't really know how fast they really are........


Old school......I really like old school......

Designed back in the day when ............Honda didn't have all this starism where they try to make there cars so modern looking......

They were Just making Good cars....with good designers.....


I just dropped 1800 on a car I payed 2200 for

Even If I get another car.....I will keep my teg.....

The g1 ZC will fit perfectlly......You just have some wiring to do...and If its a dx lots of wiring to do...........


Chances are you dropped 1 or more valves...Your heads probally toast...

and your pistions are probally rally banged up too..........


Go ZC....you'll never regret it........

I am pretty sure that is is a d16a1 / INTEGRA ZC tranny..........


If its a ZC...... Its more than likely the ZC tranny........

The zc or d16a1 is the only tranny that would work correctlly ...Or without at least some crazy Modifications.......


Your making this harder than it needs to be.....


Get a 86-89 acura integra clutch and you'll have no problems.......


There are a few other tranny's that will work But you have to use special flywheel and clutch combos..with different imput shafts.......Basically Its a pain in the ass and the only place I have seen it done is on sonny's page....I'm sure someone here can direct you to there........................................


I can not remember My tranny code.......But I would Highly Doubt that it was anything different than a d16a1 or equivalant ZC tranny

That statement doesn't really make sense...........

D16a1's and Integra ZC's are the same ........the only real difference is the cams..........


Blacktop ZC and Blacktop d16a1 have the same exact intake manifold....


My guess is that your comparring the 86-87 Browntop ZC/D16a1 Intake Manifold,.................. to the 88-89 ZC/D16a1 Intake manifold...........


In that case the Blacktop Intake manifold is a way better unit....



It is much bigger........which is better No matter what way you look at it...

I am talking about the Civic ZC with the valve cover bolts on the outer rim of the valve cover...


I need to know bacause I need to put a new engine in by next Friday!!!!

I know some of you guys are running Civic ZC's.........

The ones with the bolts on the outside of the valve cover......



Are the mounts the same or did you make custom mounts?

There has been a lot of speculation on civic ZC's in G1 tegs.......But I saw one in person at a G1teg Meet.......

These are Much easier to obtane than a blacktop Integra ZC and was wondering If it would actually bolt up to the stock mounts.....?

I Pulled the pan......Metal everywhere....


Checked all Rods........

The rod closest to the tranny/Dizzy side is has freeplay at the crank.......
Definitlly Spun Rod Bearing.......


Now.........

Strait Up If I am going to get anything honed On my engine...I am just going to get another block.........There cheap enough....

Now how Do I check For scoring...

Pull The Head?


Can I remove the Intire crank and Change All The rod Bearings without Removing The engine?.........

I see those about once every 4 monthes or so in the trader..........


I heard they have really bad Body flex.........

Basically they started as normal Crx's

A Private company modified them to convertables and sold them...

Unfortunatelly.....alot of people Died.



so they stopped making them.......

It just wasn't a good mix

really small car with almost no real safety equipement other than a seatbelt
, needless to say
, Not a very good compettiter against the Big heavy american cars of the 80's,
A car not designed with the structural suppert a like a factory convertable soposed to have.

Bad Car to get in a wreck


Very cool eye candy though


and that one looks mint!

If you go with a d16a1......I would go wiyth an 88-89 Integra engine...


86-87 Is vacume advance
and 88-89 is electrical advance

The 88-89 are better performance wise.....


They have domed pistions,better cams,better ignition system, and way better intake manifold wink.gif
