#107429 Weird Problem. Car Tries To Turn Back On Itself :

Posted by zAd - on 06 September 2004 - 01:57 PM in General Posts

i just bled the coolant the idle is still at 2k. and i think know the fan doesnt turn on the car was starting to get past the middle and some more where the fan usually turns on but it didnt turn on i turned off the car i turned on ac and the fan turned on hmm. so i guess its the fan switch or somethign i dunno.

on my old carb the idle screw was all the way out and it didnt drop idle i got a new carb from pick n pull for 50 dollra dont know if its good or not. im going to try to drop the idle with the screw and c if that works.

hmm so the run on is caused by the carbon if i get rid of some of the carbon it would stop doing it or is idling high bringing more carbon? sorry for all the questions but i need ehlp thanks.

Posted by zAd - on 05 September 2004 - 09:49 PM in General Posts

can a moderator move this thread sorry. but to add to the post i didnt bleed the coolant the correct way yet the way ive been taught is turning on the car without the cap onb ut too much coolant comes out sometimes so im gonna drain it and do it the correct way and c if that helps any.

ive also noticed that it could be wehen the coolant temps are high the car tries to turn back on. umm its very confusing for me im not sure ill bleed it correctly tomorrow and get back to you guys.

#107303 Weird Problem. Car Tries To Turn Back On Itself :

Posted by zAd - on 05 September 2004 - 08:28 PM in General Posts

My car idles at 2k all the time one problem second problem is when the eninge is hot and i turn off the car take the keys out the car tries to turn on by itself.

The belts would move and it would make this sputter sound like its trying to turn on but it cant the engine would shake and the exhaust would shake and then after some time it stops. sometimes its only for a second some other times it goes one for 30-45sec it dependson how hot the motor is or at least that wut i think... pretty weird problem and knda confusing if anyone knows wut it could possible be. im thinking maybe extra fuel getting dumped in there somehow its a wild guess its my first time working on carbs im trying to learn. if someone can help me in anyway that would be cool

#105439 How Many Psi Of Fuel Pressure Do I Need?

Posted by zAd - on 29 August 2004 - 10:58 AM in 1G CRX

the gs-r and b16 have different fuel pressure. the b16 got 38psi and the gs-r has 45. its not good to have too much pressure because it works the pump making the fuel hotter lowering hp. but im talking about a lot of fuel pressure the stock numbers should be fine. checkout the walbro pumps also.

he already ran the car he ran 10.1 or so its a gsr b18c1 at around 300-350whp. he says he likes the civic better. the longer the car is the better it will hook. seems weird here ill explain myself. why do people put traction bars on their fwd car? you done thinking. its because if its longer they would stick better but how do we know that this is true? well because when you have a FWD drag car with traction bar and slick damn good driving ull hit a 1.7 or so 60foot. with a wheelie bar it cuts it to 1.5 or so. do you guys know who bisi is he has done a 9sec pass also on a single cam f-series hes at 350-360whp he has never done 9 sec at an event yet almost but the problem is he is having traction problem if he hook he can easily get a 9. he drives a 2nd gen crx.

#104646 Exhaust Size

Posted by zAd - on 26 August 2004 - 09:45 AM in 1G CRX

backpressure lol i guess people still wont get it but its all good. why do the drag racer run open header what their reason wont they lose power from backpressure the deal is not to have backpressure. no one wants reversion that loses power they make header so that the piping diamater increases and making anti-reversion chamber so that the exhaust gases dont go back up in the motor. its all about velocity and with a 4" exhaust your velocity would be killed on such a small motor.

#104583 Ls/vtec

Posted by zAd - on 26 August 2004 - 01:29 AM in 1G CRX

im not trying to go off but havign an ls vtec isnt a valid reason for cams breaking. wut im trying to say is the same way a stock gsr can brake a cam the ls vtec has the same probablity it doesnt have a higher chance of braking the cam because its an ls vtec. the torque setting on the cam caps and the quaity of the cast most of the chill casted cores are known to brake its sad that most manufacturers support this process like crower, skunk2, the new buddyclub cams. it really depends on the qualiyt of the chill casted core but you can get a bad set theres already been a broken set of buddyclubs but most company are cool enough to replace them free of charge. theres also people that brake stock cams ive heard of people braking cams because the timing belt was on way too tite. but i only heard.. but back on topic. yea ls vtec does have a reliability issue due to its rod ratio which in turn your not suppose to rev past 7k people think with a b16 head they can go to 8500 or 9k with valvespring but you can if you want but its not made to. if you take it up to 9k a lot spend your time up ther like road racers do its highly possible for the piston to go through the sleeve and coolant go in motor white smoke but yeah back on topic lol. its not that bad reliability wise as long as its built correctly theres a member on hondatech selling a lsvtec imo a b16 vs. lsvtec id chose lsvtec any day of the week. you can get these custom piston that relocate the wrist pin in which increases your rod ratio but you achieve the same torque pretty trippy stuff meaning rev higher and its all good but got the lsvtec powaA. my bad if im all over the place or u cant undersntad my english aint good sheyat. but ask me if you need any help questions.

#104578 Exhaust Size

Posted by zAd - on 26 August 2004 - 01:19 AM in 1G CRX

didn't really read the thread but i dunno if it was stated but backpressure is a myth the reason why people lose hp with such a big exhaust is due to the decrease of veloctiy. it has been seen smaller exhasut mroe torque less hp. bigger exhaust more hp less torque from the dyno's ive seen from other honda's but the goal is to find the ideal sizing it really dpeends on how much to whp you plan on putting out ill tell you what a good size. the header design really helps also with the velocity.

#104109 Vacuum Diagram

Does anyone have a few picture of their carb with the vacuum lines hooked up it would be greatly appreciated. I know about taking out most of the vaccum but im trying to pass smog in california. if i was to take out most of that stuff would it still pass? basically egr wont work if i take out all that stuff rite would the nox but it wont effect hc or co rite so if i was to get a newer cat the 3way obd2 version that take can also take care of nox you think i would be able to pass?

#103642 Help Me Please. Idle 2k+stalls+misfire

Posted by zAd - on 23 August 2004 - 06:46 PM in 1G CRX

I bought this crx long ago and didnt really care for it but know im in need of it. my integra broke down plus cant pass smog. and know i got school starting on wednesday with no car and no job to pay for fixing any of em lol. the crx was an abandoned car so it needs to be registered and smogged in order to legally drive it around so my goal is to pass smog thats all.

so i have this 50 dollar crx i got it to run. the car idles at 2k i go take out the air cover thingy and this is hard to explain but basically the thing that turns the choke plate doesnt allow it turn to open all the way or doesnt open correctly. it allows the choke plate to open slightly when you turn it on but it doesnt allow it to open all the way. there these wires that wrap around and are mangled but basically its hard to explain ill try to get a picture up later on and you guys can tell me if this suppose to look like that or not. but it looks rigged.

so if i was to hold the choke plate open by hand. it would drop the idle down to 1500-1400 or so and if i was to gas it a little it would drop to 0 and the car would turn off/stall. but if i leave it how it is with the choke plate almost closed partially opened idling at 2k and gas it the car doesnt die. but it seems that only if i am under 2k if i gas it it would die.

at 1500 the exhaust system moves a little and sounds like its slightly misfiring. one spark plug stick out a lot farther then the other i believe the owner before crossthreaded the spark plug threads and the spark plug can not go in all the way. that could be a reason why it misfires rite? because i believe it misfires its hard to tell. could i pass smog without dealing with the idle problems?

can you guys please help me out im in need. i was thinking about getting a carb from pick n pull throwing it on or what do you guys think i should do or check thanks.

i actually know a person running 150 shot nos in his stock block integra gs-r and is reliable setup as long as you know wut ur doing like have individual fuel management system in which some retard ignition automatically when nitrous is shot in ur motor but i dont want to get into talking about stuff. its too bad nitrous carries a bad wut the word connotation maybe because of fast n furiaaas and i also never did like the idea and would probably enver run it in my other cars but people need to not be so narrow minded and research themselves plan their motors according to wut they wanna do... eh fawk ranting but wutever do wut u want peace.

yo eldo good 1/4 mile for that trap speed
