Here's an update per a few members request.
Thanks to JU5TIN, ImportZero & Staff we have managed to verify our test fitments this past weekend for the C-Pillar and B-Pillar Bars on the 3rd gen Civic and 1st gen CRX.
Do to the surprising support of Civic owners for these items, the CRX owners produced an even larger interest via emails.
Attached are some photos for you to enjoy! biggrin.gif

Each one of these are of different lengths.
Unfortunately, there are no pre drilled threaded holes in the back of the CRX for a C-Pillar Bar.
(This is also a common problem for the '88 & '89 CRX models but was resolved in the '90 & '91 models)
We didn't care to offer it because we felt some may complain of how it was not easy to install.
However, anyone with minimal automotive knowledge could indeed attach one.
We'll provide pictures on the 'how to' soon.

These bars are intended to be installed with absolute ease.
and even though some pics may not show the factory seat belt harnesses in place, these bars work with or without the factory harnesse...

A few neat features:
These are bars are lightweight, adjustable and when installed properly are extremly firm.
Also, as you can see in the pics above these bars do not interfere with roll bars.

"What's the point???", some may ask...

These bars are intended to enhance performance by collectively eliminating body flex by reinforcing & strengthing key points of the chassis.
In short, the stiffer your ride is, the better responsive handeling you will experience on a track setting.

Some may notice when a stiffened car comes out of a drive way at an angle it looks like frankenstein walking due to it's minimal, if any, flex within the chassis.
You will also notice this when road course cars bounce off a chicane at higher speeds and ride on two tires for a split second.

just thought I'd share this with 'yall. wink.gif

oh yeah, and they are now available through us too.

Please read the thread... lots of great pics from other members! THANX!!!

***NEW! Price change as of September 2009***

  • Civic(AT) C-Pillar Bar = $49 (...was $38 in 2007)
  • Civic(AT) B-Pillar Bar = $59 (...was $48 in 2007)
  • CRX (AS) B-Pillar Bar = $59 (...was $48 in 2007)
  • CRX (AS) **C-Pillar Bar = $49 (...was $38 in 2007)

CUSCO Strut Bars
Civic & CRX (AT/AS) = 2010 Pricing TBA.
as of March 2010 CUSCO USA has come back after being out of the US market for nearly 2 years.
They have since made new radical changes ultimately effecting over all pricing.
What I have collected from their sales department is a group buy / quantity order is required for CUSCO strut bars.
Minimum purchase order of 10 bars. ( they can be mixed matched. example 5 fronts and 5 rears.)
anyone interested, email direct at: [email protected]

JEM MotorSports Front Upper Strut Bar
Civic & CRX (AT/AS) = $50.00 (was $45 in 2007)

*Plus Shipping/Handeling. and PayPal's processing Fee.

PLEASE NOTE PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO IMPORTATION TAX FEES!!!
EMAIL US for a quote. [email protected]

**C-Pillar for 1984-1987 CRX (AS) also AVAILABLE. Does require basic
automotive knowledge for proper install. see pics in thread for refrence.

Note: B & C Pillar bars do NOT come with hardware.
Reason being, most of us have gutted interiors and aftermarket harnesses
which has left us with extra bolts. Bolt specs are 7/16-20. I use a 17mm socket
to remove these extra bolts from donor cars at the junk yard. Primarily, these
extra bolts are removed from the lower factory seat belt harnesses.
Bolts are sold seperately, $2 each.

I understand.... the AT didn't have seats for the pic so it was just easy to hang them.
We are will aware the the seat belts should enter in a cross pattern through the pockets provided in back of a race bucket or between the posts of the factory head rest.

Sorry for the pic.... yeah it clicked after you pointed out that it's probably not the best depiction of how to place your after market harness...

I'll try to post up diagrams from various authorities (Sparco, Takata, Schroth, Simpson, Impact, etc...) on how to properly install harness restraints.
I know I have them floating around here somewhere...

thanks for the heads up... wink.gif

this piece is nice, dont mind the dirt everywhere… or the steering wheel… ph34r.gif
im stoked smile.gif

You are absolutely correct and I couldn't agree with you anymore.
I can have EM produce a custom one off for you.
Your total will be approximately $250 plus shipping & handeling and paypal fees.
Not a bad price for a custom one off.

I had searched for the most cost effective solution to this problem. I could have easily had produced C-Pillars from EM for our Civics(AT) but at an average of $160 per unit with a minimum purchase order of 100 units it just didn't seem possible. I'd probably be sitting on these for several years.
The prototype off a CNC machine would have ran us about $250.

while browsing j's racing parts, i noticed that i pretty much payed 50 bux for what they sell for 150. and its the EXACT SAME THING

now THAT is much better example of a name brand overpriced product id say

250 for a full 5 piece trunk, diagonal, strut, diagonal, and c pillar braces? haha i wish, the quick release c pillar seems like a nice feature to have, the aurora end bearings and the zero offset mounts make it soo much nicer

it looks like EM puts a little more time into their stuff and that J's and JEM just got some generic ones ordered to size on the quick? not saying that the generics are bad, mines great and seeing that people use these as "J's" im even more stoked about it, im just saying that a more developed unit would be better smile.gif

Well I think the price is great.....Lets see.....$48.00 plus shipping for a part that is just as fuctional as the 250.00 one.....I think i will go with the 48.00 one......

For the record I see both sides of the comment....If your building a show car then yes go with the one that looks nicer, and has all the polished ends and brackets.....If your building a race car then you fuctionality over form...

Thank you for puttin out a part that is affordable for the buget minded people out here. I will order this at a later time if they are still available. I need to get my car up and running first. and that means getting the head work done.

92 Ford Probe GT Turbo: it blew up, got stripped, and then crushed....back to my CRX...What was I thinking...Oh yea it was free.
Ford........At least they circled the problem...

you seemed to have missed the point. The more expensive one has much better attachment points and actual end bearings making it a superior FUNCTIONING part

Not sold on'em. I can't see any structural advantage in any of the above blink.gif am I missing something surely the rose joints on the last pic negate the whole point of the "bracing".

I think money would be better spent on a more extensive cage, far more rigid and alot safer wink.gif
