Well my knuckles are tore the heck up but its done! Runs soo smoth and feels like it has more power at lower rpms but doesnt seem any faster. I havent tried starting it since I got it running right so we will see if it will still work good. Is there some way to adjust the fuel air mixture? I turned the idle down but dont know what else might need to be adjusted.

Well still runs good but seems like it doesnt accelerate as well as before but may just be me. I have a weber kit coming soon so figured I had nothing to lose doing the devac. In the frequently sked questions there is an article about tuning the stock carb but the pictures are not there anymore. Should I route my vacume lines some where in the back of the carb?

If you remove the air cleaner assembly off of the carb you will see the fuel pressure regulater screw on the back right corner of the carb, most likely with paint on it that you'll have to scrape off. After adjusting my fuel pressure and idle around it finally ran like a raped ape (for a 20 y.o. carbed 4 banger anyway) But if you add a header or anything like I have, you'll need to adjust it all again.

I devac'd my second EW engine 2 days ago, it runs better since the devac due to the lack of the vac leak.
if you ask badpenny real nice, He'll post some pics of a proper Devac engine.
one thing I almost forgot and is pretty common, if you decide to just leave the two valves on the IM and not make block off plates, you have to cap off the lower vac tube on the white, plastic valve on the driver side- dont recall what its supposed to do but fk it, its a block off plate now!

ps. I think Im gona make a new manifold for my bike carbs... cheaper than the webber conversion and wins in sex appeal
pss. if anyone wants to run CVCC bike carbs, my uber leet, custom cvcc manifold can be had for cheap

Hahaha, block off plates are great... but MY block off plates are better... Aluminium siding, duct tape, and silicone for the EGR block off and for the gapeing hole on the other side... a valve cover stud bushing!

I have to plead guilty to using duct tape as gasket material for my block off plates... I replaced it with high temp silicone about a week later suspecting minor vac leaks

Yes they are. And I need to see about editing the FAQ to have a good link to the pics in your gallery, because everytime someone asks about it, I have to look at your FS thread.

you can pass emissions with a devac'd car.
though my current setup isnt quite stock, I can say that it is passable!
My timing and carb are out of tune but its very close to passing. of course I still am running about 13~ AFR- the only thing not passing is my CO reading which is about 1% too high, Im sure that with proper adjusting, it'll pass just fine. Soo Im really waiting to get a decent timing gun to check my timing... then Ill check the AFR and readjust the carb and Im positive itll do just fine...
lets keep in mind I have a ew1/SI head with a stock carb(rebuilt by holley probably agressive in some way) and its passing on all of the high and low speed tests except the CO
Either way, if you're having trouble with ur rat nest of vac lines but your worried about emissions, gut that shit, borrow a wideband and tune the carb- and Im pretty sure itll pass the same as it would before, possibly better due to the lack of BS vac lines causing intake turbulence
