***DISCLAIMER***
THIS SALE IS FOR SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY - IF YOU DO NOT THINK YOU CAN AFFORD THIS CAR OR ARE JUST CURIOUS ABOUT IT, MOVE ALONG. I WILL ONLY ENTERTAIN SERIOUS INQUIRIES!

Yes,
you guys are reading this right. It's been an amazing experience owning this car, but I've (painfully, and certainly NOT easily) reached a point in my life where I need to move on from it.
With the addition of our new bundle of joy a month ago, it is becoming increasingly important to me and our family to focus our finances elsewhere.

ULT1GCRX has (especially lately) represented the ultimate dichotomy in my life:
An absolute blast to own and drive w/ jaw-dropping performance on one hand, and on the other seems to be a source of invariable petty annoyances.....more on this later.

For those who've seen the car in person they can tell you; it's taken an enormous amount of time, $$$, patience, sweat, bloody knuckles, colorful metaphors, etc to get it where it is today.

And for anyone who's ridden in it ::cough::DiscoStu, et. al. ::cough::, he/she can vouch for the car's performance.
It was built w/ the goal of out-accelerating, out-handling, and out-braking a stock C5 Z06 Corvette.

Mission accomplished. biggrin.gif

TURBO

AVAILABLE ITEMS NOT INCLUDED IN SALE:

* CF ZC hood
* JDM/EDM OEM ZC hood
* Full set of 13" OEM '85 CRX Si rims
* EDM amber taillights
* OEM Honda wind deflector
* Brand new red Sparco hood pins (to be installed w/ ZC hood)

The following issues are things that I've lost patience with, and I'm sure would be much less problematic for those w/ greater mechanic skills than myself:

"ISSUES"

- PGM-FI light comes on intermittently (may need O2 sensor, close to turbo)
- surging idle at start up
- sometimes has a "hiccup" at low rpm's (have to blip the throttle w/ clutch engaged to smooth this)
- mild synchro grind from 2-3 gear shift (only noticeable w/ "spirited" driving)

It is an 1985 Si, so it has the factory "sponge" spoiler exclusive to the '85, as well as functional power sunroof.

I have receipts for almost everything that is currently installed on the car and anyone here at RPR can vouch for me and this car. I can provide any information you need and pics of anything as well, but John Ward ("ComposiMo") at RPI racing/ICON auto parts would be able to tell you much more specifics on the turbo install than I could. This is a nasty car (power-wise) and reliable (although a bit stiff) as a daily driver. There are about 175,XXX miles on the chassis, and about 50K on the engine (less than 2K on the engine since the turbo install). The body currently has the residual damages from the "flying hood" incident from last year, but I am willing to work w/ you on getting it repaired. The car has never been smoked in and I am the third owner.

My thoughts toward the sale price of this car is pretty much up in the air. I know I have around $27K into the car, but... it's a CRX I don't have any delusions of grandeur. The blue book value of the car is apprx. $1,500. Don't offer me this or I will laugh at you and you will feel stupid. tongue.gif

This car has been modified with a 'non-destructive' mentality so there are not unused holes anywhere on the car. The engine wiring has been done with care and precision as has the rest of the mods.

I am willing to be as accommodating as possible to long-distance buyers so do not let that limit you.

I will ABSOLUTELY NOT part the car out, so please don't even ask.

This car is 100% RUST-FREE (Arizona car for 16 years, Ohio for 1, NC for the last 4+--always garaged)

I truly hope this car goes to a good home...

****UPDATE****
I *might* be willing to trade for a $3000 or less 4 door 5-spd civic/accord/corolla/prizm/camry + cash

Just keep the car. The $5-7 Grand you might get won't be worth it. Unless your going through some incredible financial difficulties.......... I just wouldn't bother. My advise, put her away.

Hey Bryman..

The time has come eh? It took me a good 6 months of thinking to finally decide to sell mine. For me, it was just the desire for a change. In your situation you have a lot more to think about.

You have put a LOT of money into this car. I know you knew you'd never get it back, but I think I've heard you say you'd never get rid of it either smile.gif

Yeah, I miss certain things about my crx. The gas mileage, the go kart feel, and being able to park in small spaces, but it was my time to move on.

Congrats on the kid! It sounds like you are making this decision for them, and that I can respect no matter what.

Take care,

Kirk

Dude Bryman I completely agree with Ballade. I am not saying everyone, but I would say a decent amount of the people on rpr are not going to have what you want for your baby.. And you are not going to get out of it what you want..... Unless you part it out, which I know you wont do. So Why not just let it hibernate for a while and when the kids are older take them for a ride and tell them you built it and by then it will be a classic for sure. You can roll up with all the camaro and mustang people and still give then a run for their money!!!!

KEEP THE ULTIMATE 1G BRYMAN, ITS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sell those other crxs... You can probably get rid of them faster anyways!!! Then you would have 2 less cars around to worry about and save the ultimate...

Besides I know that it HAS to go to a good home and finding one for it will be tough.. Unless you try to sell it on ebay and even then its not gonna get a good home... Some jack ass is gonna buy it bragging about having" turbo Vtax jhanks" and wreck it and blow the motor up sky high..

Keep it man, You will probably be very happy that you did.. Then you wont have to tell your kids that story everyonr knows...

"I had this car once.... I wish I hadnt a sold it... I regret it everyday...."

Well, having seen and driven the non turbo Ultirex1, Bryman, drive up here so I can bitch slap you. I would say after having kids, everyone including myself, goes thru feelings of anxiety and feelings of needing an extra cash buffer for situations that may arise. Fact is, along with me, you'll NEVER get back even half the money you put into it. I decided to keep my CRX for now, just driving my Sentra daily and using it for the baby seat. The CRX is paid for, you at least have a back seat in yours. And just think of all the people who will light up when you show them a 300hp 85Si. I hate to see you sell it, but I hope it will go to a good home. Hey , weren't you looking into that 87 Silver CRX with the bad head to? If you sell Ult1, what are you doing with the SAPI and Kyosho CRXs? I got dibs on them! PM me dude. Don't do it, you'll regret it like I did with my 280ZX. Sorry man.

Bryman, let me tell you a little story.....

I recently told my girlfriend (you met her briefly at your house-meet) of close to 2 years that I won't "settle down" and get married until my car is finished under my guidelines and/or I'm completely out of college. Now, after hearing the good/bad (kid/finances) news from you I may just have to tell her kids are out for a decade because I'm a 2-door, stickshiftin', small 4-bangin' beast kind of guy and the title to a minivan/SUV will never EVER be in my name or disgrace my garage. It may not be the Rex, but I'll compromise and buy/build a 5-passenger '96-00 Civic Hatch Turbo if a backseat is absolutely necessary, so I get the best of both worlds. Anyway, the moral of this story is that you can't give up on your dreams and sell your (perverbial) soul by selling your hard work/money. But you can compromise...Store the Rex for now, and use the Ex sedan and 4runner for the family outings under you get financially where you want to be. Even taking out a loan will have a better return rate than having to sell the Rex for 1/3-1/2 the cost it was to build it. My vote would be to keep the Rex until it is completely futile to do so. You can do whichever you feel is best, as I don't know the complexities of your situation and I only have an opinion. But if you have a meet next year and don't see the ULT1G sitting all red and pretty in your driveway, I'll shed a tear, seriously. Hope it works out one way or another, Mak

I do appreciate where you guys are coming from, but this isn't just a whim...it's something I've been struggling with for quite some time.

The fact is, I'm just at the point where I really don't want to keep hassling w/ it, putting more $$$ into it (you all know that we're never TRULY done), and dealing w/ it's little nuances.

If I had more patience and/or was more mechanically inclined (sadly, I'm not very), I might be willing to take the time to address everything.

Basically at this point, there are two primary reasons for selling the car:
1) Tired of the little "issues" (for which I don't have the patience or mechnical aptitude to fix)
2) Looking at acquiring this (yes, I realize I "borrowed" wink.gif much of his script...to which he said was OK):
457hp civic SEDAN professionally done w/ built block

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't have the $14,000 cash to give to Josh (monster civic sedan owner) to acquire the car.

This is one of the few cars (actually, probably the ONLY car) I would consider unloading ULT1GCRX for.

I look at the civic as the best of both worlds...crazy power/performance on one hand, but still can be daily driven sanely w/ full interior to haul the family when needed.
True, it may not be quite as unique as ULT1GCRX, but nontheless it is pretty rare to see a civic SEDAN w/ that kind of performance....not to mention one that looks relatively stock (mmm...sleeper).

Again, there isn't just one reason for my decision to sell ULT1GCRX...it's a culmination of several things that have manifested moreso in the last year or so.

Obviously, my first choice would be one of you guys to step up to the plate and buy her, but sadly I may have to agree w/ Brian (BigOrange) that few here would be in a position to slap down a good chunk of change for this car...I don't know (prove me wrong!!!).

I haven't had any (real) offers, and I'm damn sure not giving the car away so I may end needing to keep it.

If no one here makes a solid offer in the next week or so, I may have to ::gulp:: put it in the local autotrader (as again, these cars sell VERY well in my area).

BTW: Miasma, no....$3K is NOT a real offer, sorry. (If you can find ANY car that someone has put $27K into for $3K, by all means buy it!).

autotrader??? man... that still dosent sound good... and if the cars sell so well in your area could you really handle seeing someone drive the car that YOU built? Come on Bry keep it.finding it the right person is gonna be a hard long search... There are to many momy dady kids out there that would want it, momy or dady would buy it, then the kid would destroy it, and not even think twice about it.... Cause momy or dady will get them something new.. sell those other crxs you have if they sell well in your local area ditch those 2 and keep the ultimate my friend. You have enough cars that you could park the ultimate and then drive the others.. and That 457 hp sedan is kinda a logical buy for you but: would your wife like that idea and how reliable is that going to be? I mean you have your friends that help you out with the ultimate but then throwing something new on their plate they arent framiliar with, might not go so well.......Idont mean to seem so hell bent on you not selling your car lol smile.gif just thinking of logical reasons to keep it at the good home it already has..
